Abstract: A method and composition for waterproofing a substrate includes applying a coating composition to a surface of the structural unit. The coating composition includes a) an organic solvent, b) a hydrocarbon resin and c) a copolymer having styrene and diene monomer units, a polymer having olefin monomer units, or a copolymer having styrene and olefin monomer units, or mixtures thereof.

Abstract: A method for waterproofing a substrate includes applying a coating composition to the surface of the substrate. The coating composition includes: (a) an organic solvent; (b) hydrocarbon resin; and (c) a polymer selected from the group consisting of a polyolefin homopolymer, a styrene-ethylene-butylene-styrene block copolymer with a styrene content of less than 60% by weight and mixtures thereof.
Abstract: A novel coating for waterproofing and sealing a rigid structural unit using a styrene polymeric film cast from an organic solvent is disclosed. The coating is easily maintained as damaged areas and imperfections can be repaired by simply applying additional liquid composition to the damaged area, and the liquid composition remelts the existing film allowing the newly formed film to be continuous. In addition, the composition can be applied to structural units in sub-freezing temperatures or to wet surfaces. Novel methods relating to the use of the liquid coating composition are also disclosed including application to wooden structural units as well as masonry or concrete.

Abstract: A novel multi-layered system for waterproofing and sealing a rigid structural unit using as a first coat a styrene polymeric film cast from an organic solvent and an elastomeric overcoat applied thereon is described. The first coat is easily maintained as damaged areas and imperfections can be repaired by simply applying additional liquid composition to the damaged area, and the liquid composition remelts the existing film allowing the newly formed film to be continuous. The overcoat adds crack bridging properties to the first coat without bladdering. Novel methods relating to the use of the system are also described.
