Abstract: In order to injection mould smooth walled parts from plastics material containing a filler or cellular material a liquid coating material of low viscosity is introduced into the mould by means of the injected plastics material. Under the pushing action of the injected material, the coating material is deposited in the form of a thin film on the walls of the mould. The injection of the plastics material is effected from the lower part of the mould, so that the coating material rises progressively in the mould with the injected material.
Abstract: A grating (1) is composed of a series of transversal elements (2) which each have a central hole (11) and, at each end and on each surface, a planar surface (5) for abutting an adjacent transversal element. These elements are clamped one against the other by a central crosspiece (3) traversing their central holes. During the passage of rolling loads, the surfaces (5) slide one on the other to ensure at least four effective seat points for the grating, preventing its rocking.
Abstract: Head-to-tail turning of one pipe out of two in a series of pipes being presented at irregular intervals which may occur at even or odd multiples of a step. A horizontal transporter moves by intervals of two steps and a turning device for one pipe out of two moves by one step as necessary to place itself in a position for turning beneath the pipe to be turned. Pipes are arranged head-to-tail, horizontally and vertically, one joint alternating with one smooth end at each end of the pipes in the production of pipe bundles.
Abstract: To fast load a metal alloy casting furnace 1 at a high casting temperature to supply foundry molds at an industrial pace, a liquid portion of the overall load is first introduced deep inside the furnace with a device L comprising a telescopic channel 30-31. A solid portion of the remaining overall load is then introduced with a device S comprising a tilting pusher-equipped channel 20 disposed below a static hopper 15. The liquid part of the load includes alloy compounds which are the least sensitive to oxidation; the solid part includes compounds which are highly sensitive to oxidation.
Abstract: A fusing furnace casting channel 13 is surrounded by an induction heating coil 17 embedded in a refractory lining 12. A graphite sleeve 20 having a refractory inner coating 16 defines the casting channel. The sleeve serves as a permanent, single turn secondary winding such that the channel may be preheated even when no molten metal is present in the channel, which would ordinarily act as the secondary winding or core. This enables the casting channel to be maintained at a high temperature between successive casting operations.
Abstract: A pipeline 1 crosses a manhole 2 with a degree of clearance and is provided, inside the manhole, with a vertical pipe 19 capped with a removable sealing cover 22. The movement of the pipeline in relation to its surroundings is thus enabled without it being necessary for the manhole to be sealed. The cover is provided with a drainage valve 32 operable from the top of the manhole by a chain 33.

Abstract: A cap 42 with a lower spherical surface 46 is held against the flared head 38 of a casting core 24 and rests on the spherical upper surface of an annular bed 50 which is fixed above a casting head 12. The bed is coaxial with an enlarged orifice 40 for the passage of the core, and is coaxial with a casting tank 16. Projections 70 are distributed regularly around the periphery of the core and come into contact with the internal wall of a mold 22 near a die opening to center the core in the mold by possibly moving the cap in relation to the bed, before final tightening.
Abstract: The cast tube (T) is subjected internally in a chill-mould (1) to the uniform spraying of water from 1000.degree. C. approximately to 350.degree. C. approximately. Then it is extracted from the chill-mould and in a furnace is subjected to isothermal bainitization maintenance, after which it is cooled in the atmosphere to ambient temperature. Without it being necessary to add expensive chilling elements, one thus obtains lightened tubes having very good mechanical properties and the ovalization of which remains acceptable.
Abstract: The control mechanism to which the invention relates is intended to equip fire hydrants of the type comprising an outer body (1) extended downwards by an underground elongated pipe (2) connecting it to a water supply pipe (3), a valve cooperating with a valve seat, a control member (21) opening out at the upper end of the outer body (1) and said mechanism. The latter is constituted by a control rod (19) integral with a support member (7 ) constituted by a central sleeve (14) connected by radial arms (15) to a circular rim (16) provided with cylindrical bosses (17) and at least one lug (18) engaging in corresponding housings (11-13) provided in a support holder (6) fixed to the upper end of the elongated pipe (2).Application to fire hydrants.
Abstract: The invention provides a pipe or similar tubular member of ductile cast iron having an end casing. The thin walled casing has a curved profile at its entrance divided into two sections, of which one is formed by centrifugal casting, whereas the other, of lesser curvature, is made by hot or cold forming with a simultaneous axial compression and a radial bending directed towards the axis of the pipe. The invention is useful for forming fluid tight seals in pipelines using radial compression packings.
Abstract: The cover is fixed without the use of bolts. On each side thereof, an almost closed groove is defined in one half by the peripheral portion of the cover and in the other half by the peripheral portion of the body. This groove extends only in a part of the major length of the valve and receives two round locking bars which are inserted in the groove by way of a center cavity. An outer sealing element hermetically closes the gap between the cover and the body and the two cavities. Application of the device in buried valves exposed to corrosive atmospheres.
Abstract: A cast-iron pipe having an end socket is rotated about its axis by a driven first roller applied against the outside of the socket and a driven second roller applied against the inside of the socket and pressing the latter against the first roller. The rollers can be rotated at differing speeds, and as the socket revolves they rub off or crush burrs or other irregularities on the outside and inside of the socket. A cutting tool on a pivoted lever arm is applied by motor power to an outer face of an end flange of the rotating socket to trim burrs therefrom. The second roller supported on an articulated arrangement can be swung into and out of the socket by operation of a first hydraulic jack. Another hydraulic jack arrangement presses the second roller against the inside of the socket and increases the pressure suddenly when the roller encounters a large irregularity and decreases the pressure to normal when that irregularity has passed the roller.
Abstract: An injection apparatus for plastics materials containing glass reinforcing fibers includes a fixed sheath 5, a movable sheath 7 slidably disposed within the fixed sheath, a mixing screw 9 rotatable within the movable sheath, a pressurized supply hopper or funnel 8 for feeding material to the mixing and conveying screw, and a piston/cylinder unit 14-16 for advancing the movable sheath and screw to inject a charge of plastics material within a chamber 26 to a mold M. The supply funnel is coupled to the movable sheath and includes a compression plate 35 controlled by a jack 38 mounted on a sliding plate 39, whereby the compression plate may be retracted into abutment with the sliding plate and laterally withdrawn to enable the reloading of the supply funnel.
Abstract: A butterfly valve comprises a closure member 8 having a warped curve periphery pivotably disposed within a tubular body 1. An elastic seal and a cooperating seat are provided on the closure member and tubular body, respectively, or vice versa. At each point of a mean line of seat, a plane T tangent to the seat forms a roughly constant acute angle x of 20.degree. to 30.degree. with a tangent t to the path of the corresponding point of the closure member at the point of contact of the seal and seat.
Abstract: Concave rails 17, upon which a pipe which is to be treated by at least partial immersion can be placed, are fixed in the bottom of a furnace 1 which contains a treatment bath M. In order to guarantee that the pipe is immersed over the whole of its cross section and in order to eliminate the risk of it becoming oval, the furnace is subjected to alternating rotation about its axis XX, which compels the pipe to turn on itself by rolling on the rails 17. The handling of the pipe is achieved by arms 12 which are assembled in a pivoting manner on the external wall of the furance and controlled by an actuator 15.
Abstract: A process for producing iron, phosphorus, carbon and chromium based amorphous metal alloys of the type in which a metal alloy in the liquid phase is cooled very rapidly to obtain a vitreous structure, wherein the liquid phase is prepared from cast iron, phosphorus and chromium. This process provides a low cost amorphous alloy as compared to that of crystalline products, and one which, however, possesses improved properties. The invention also relates to the amorphous alloy obtained having the following composition by atomic percentage: Cr: 1.5 to 8; C: 8 to 16; P: 4 to 12; Si: up to 3.5; the remainder being iron and the P/C ratio being less than 1.
Abstract: A plastic injection molding device comprises a fixed plate 5 and a movable plate 7 bearing the two halves of a mold 3, a fixed plate 10 forming a bed, and hydraulic jacks 15, 17, 20 for moving and locking the plate 7. The plates are fixed or slidably mounted within a plurality of parallel hollow rectangular frames 11 which evenly distribute the forces transmitted by the fixed plates.

Abstract: A modular door closure system comprises a rack and pinion motor assembly with single action opening 2a mounted in a first case 5a; a similar motor assembly with double action opening mounted in a housing element 5, 6; and a spring and shock absorber restoration drive 4 mounted in a second case 7 that can be assembled with either the first case 5a to constitute a single action door closure 1a, or with the housing element to constitute a double action door closure 1.
Abstract: A sleeve grip for a pipe is radially expandable by axial compression from a bolt-nut system. One of the elements 8 of the bolt-nut system 13 is connected to a bidirectional drive motor 23 inducing rotation in the cylindrical pipe 2 and the other element 24 to the movable disc 25 of a brake 14. Thus, by simple tightening or slackening of the brake 14 and activation of the motor 23 inducing rotation in the pipe, it may be held by the expandable sleeve grip 12 or released.
