Abstract: A fastening system provides for connecting structural members with blind fasteners. The fasteners are movably positionable along an elongated opening of a chamber, such as a channel, anchored with the structural members. A structural member may have multiple chambers. The fasteners are constructed with a holding portion of elongated members. The elongated members are movable for insertion into the chamber and for engaging the opposed margins of the channel.

  • Publication number: 20040231043
Abstract: A bath lifting system comprises a seat which is raised and lowered inside of a bath by a lifting device positioned inside the bath. The lifting device provides an aesthetically appealing system with the seat substantially covering the lifting device, thus obscuring its view. The guiding assembly guides the seat from a lowered position to a raised position to facilitate ingress and egress to a bather. A composite bath embodiment and a retrofit embodiment, each with either straight up or laterally offset lifting, are disclosed. All the embodiments can use a closed self-pressurized system. A retrofit embodiment force compensation system provides both access to the bath adjacent the bath lifting system and safety while providing a hinge for alternative connections.

  • Publication number: 20040208722
Abstract: A holding portion of a fastener including a plurality of housings each having a recess sized to receive a nut and corresponding elongated members is disclosed. The elongated members move between an insertion position and a predetermined extended position. Upon insertion of the holding portion in an aperture, the elongated members are in the insertion position. Upon clearance of the holding portion from the aperture, the elongated members are in the predetermined extended position to resist removal of the holding portion back through the aperture while allowing the holding portion to be positioned with the aperture. Additionally, a method of fastening an element to a structural member using the nut in the housing recess while the holding portion is in the predetermined extended position is provided.
