Abstract: An electronic circuit breaker is tripped to interrupt the flow of current to a load when the load experiences an over-current condition and is automatically reset by disconnection thereof from the load. A first control circuit including a first voltage comparator senses the level of current flowing through the load and operates a solid-state control switch to interrupt current flow when the sensed current exceeds a prescribed level. A second control circuit comprising a second voltage comparator is operative to latch the control switch in its operated condition interrupting current flow even though the level of current sensed by the first control circuit drops below the prescribed level. The second control circuit automatically responds to disconnection of the load from the circuit breaker to unlatch the control switch thereby resetting the circuit breaker to resume normal operation when another load is connected thereto.
