Abstract: Disclosed is a shaft and bearing assembly comprising a cylindrical shaft. The bearing assembly comprises first and second ends, the bearing assembly further comprising a ball bearing having an inner race positioned over the shaft. A restraining mechanism is located on the shaft for preventing the first end of the bearing assembly from coming off the shaft. The shaft further comprises an end formed over the second end of the bearing assembly in order to hold the bearing assembly against the restraining mechanism and onto the shaft.
Abstract: An assembly for facilitating the cutting of matching panel joints includes a base body which is adapted to be secured to the lower surface of a router or the like and has a lower ramped slide surface defined therein, and a slide member having a topped ramped bearing surface defined therein for contacting the lower ramped slide surface in the base body. The base body and slide member are mounted for sliding relationship relative to each other so that a lower bearing surface on the slide member is vertically adjustable relative to a corresponding lower bearing surface on the base body. In operation, the base body and slide member are adjusted so that their respective bearing surfaces differ in elevation to a degree equal to one-half the wavelength of a cutting bit to be used in the router.

Abstract: Disclosed is a plate joiner having a superior miter guide for mitered carcase joints. The plate joiner comprises a system for forming a plunge cut. The joiner also includes a miter guide for securely engaging the mitered portion of carcase workpieces and for accurately and reliably locating plunge cuts perpendicularly into opposing mitered carcase joint surfaces so that, when a joint is glued together with a plate in opposing plunge cuts, a closed joint having mitered outside workpiece surfaces is formed, independent of workpiece thickness.
Abstract: Disclosed is a plate joiner having a quiet drive. The joiner comprises a base having a guide surface with a cutter slot. A cutter is normally housed in the base, the cutter having a drive shaft with an axis oriented substantially parallel to the guide surface and substantially perpendicular to the cutter slot. The joiner comprises a motor for driving the cutter and a system for causing the cutter to protrude from the base through the cutter slot and to make a plunge cut into a joint surface of a workpiece when the guide surface of the base is pressed aganist the joint surface. The present plate joiner further comprises a quiet drive system for rotating the cutter without the use of gears between the output shaft of the motor and the drive shaft of the cutter.

The joiner comprises a plunge cutting system having a cutter normally housed in a base for forming a plunge cut and a primary handle having a gripping portion with a longitudinal axis oriented substantially perpendicularly to the cutter.
Abstract: The invention includes a power operated circular type hand saw having a motor disposed within a housing, a rotating circular sawblade driven by the motor, and a work supporting shoe which is pivotally attached to the housing and moveable relative to the housing to adjust the depth to which the saw blade extends below the shoe. The motor supporting housing includes a locking arrangement and a depth limiting stop plate moveable relative to the housing, the stop plate having a depth limiting ear and a clasp, the clasp is adapted to lock the stop plate in a wide range of depth limiting positions.
