    Abstract: A miter saw has a remotely actuated bevel angle locking system and a bevel angle adjustment assistance system with a remote override actuator so that the user does not need to reach around to the back of the miter saw to adjust the bevel angle. The remote actuator for the bevel angle locking system can be provided on the front of the miter saw's turntable to form a suite of actuators with the miter lock and miter detent override lever. The remote override actuator for the bevel angle adjustment assistance system can be provided on the handle in proximity to the power switch. Also disclosed is a bevel angle adjustment assistance system in which each of the preset bevel angles can be fine tuned simultaneously and which exhibits other advantages.

Rotation of the adjusting collar causes the depth locator to move axially relative to the on/off collar for adjusting the depth setting. An indexing system is provided between the adjusting collar and the on/off collar for retaining the angular position of the adjusting collar and the depth setting. The on/off collar can be easily attached and detached from the base with a simple axial force applied to the on/off collar.

The side-mounted belt clip can be adapted to facilitate the wielding of the tool by providing additional surfaces for the fingers and thumb to contact when grasping the tool. The belt clip can also be detachably mounted to a tool and can be designed to provide curved surfaces which match the profile of the user's thumb and fingers for comfort.

    Abstract: An adjustable reciprocating saw has the ability to adjust the orientation of the saw blade in relation to the rest of the tool. The saw blade can pivot about two transverse axes, one parallel with and one perpendicular to the reciprocating motion axis of the saw blade. The portions of the saw's housing which rotate relative to one another are attached with a rotating joint comprising a pin and groove design. Rotation locks selectively prevent rotation of the saw blade about each axis. The rotation locks can be released through simply depressing buttons on the saw. A rear internal bearing increases the durability and decreases the size of the saw. A keyless adjustable shoe is mounted to the saw.

    Abstract: A clutch specially adapted for a screw gun includes an output clutch and a driving clutch. The output clutch is movable axially to engage the driving clutch. A helical spline arrangement on the driving clutch causes the driving clutch to move axially towards the output clutch a short distance when torque is transferred through the clutch. When the clutch slips and the torque is released, the driving clutch moves axially away from the output clutch a short distance and a gap is created between the output clutch and driving clutch which prevents clashing. Also, a retaining ring is mounted to an input spindle to limit the axial movement of the driving clutch.

The motor is preferably positioned so that its rotational axis is angled with respect to a longitudinal axis of the reciprocating shaft. This configuration of the motor produces a compact configuration for a reciprocating power tool and helps the tool stand upright upon the base of the tool. A battery may be provided in a cordless embodiment and is advantageously positioned for balancing the tool.

    Abstract: A hand-held oscillating spindle sander is disclosed. The sander includes a pair of toothed pulleys associated with the output shaft. The first pulley is attached to the output shaft for rotation with the output shaft. The second pulley is rotatably disposed on the output shaft for relative rotation with respect to the output shaft. The second pulley includes opposed camming surfaces formed on the inside thereof. A cam follower is attached to and extends from the output shaft so that it is positioned between the opposed camming surfaces. A pair of belts are respectively entrained around the first and second pulleys from a jackshaft rotatably received in the housing. Upon rotation of the belts, both pulleys rotate, but at slightly different speeds. This slight difference in speeds causes the cam follower to move along the opposed camming surfaces to create an oscillation effect for the output shaft.

    Abstract: A cordless router motor unit has a metal barrel and a plastic battery housing. A DC motor is housed inside of the barrel and drives an output shaft and up to a ½″ collet chuck. The battery housing holds a power switch and is fastened to the barrel. A battery is releasably attached to the battery housing through a sliding engagement in a direction normal to the longitudinal axis of the motor unit. When the battery is in its locked position relative to the battery housing, the center of gravity of the battery is balanced over the output shaft. The power switch is positioned radially from the DC motor and below the battery so that the router motor unit has a low center of gravity. The battery provides at least 18V and the maximum power output of the DC motor is at least ⅝ hp. The barrel can be sized to engage with a router base which also engages with a corded router motor unit.

    Abstract: A tile saw includes a base, a frame supported on the base, a sliding table supported on the frame, an arm mounted to the frame, and a rotary saw mounted to the arm for cutting tile or other masonry products placed on the sliding table. The table includes rollers which ride inside substantially enclosed tracks on the frame. The substantially enclosed tracks prevent fluid from reaching the tracks and the rollers and prevent deposits of sludge from forming on the tracks and rollers and hampering the smooth movement of the sliding table. Also, because the rollers ride in enclosed tracks, the table is stable and does not tip relative to the tile saw. Also, the table can be easily removed from the tile saw when a locking assembly is unlocked. The base includes an integral reservoir and is hollow for increased rigidity. A blade guard pivots to a position to provide access to the saw blade, and includes an improved clamping mechanism.
