Abstract: In a method for activation of a print head operating according to the thermotransfer principle, the print head having a number of printing elements, in which the energy quantity to be supplied to a printing element is determined in a determination step, and the energy quantity is supplied to the printing element in a supply step in order to transfer ink from an ink carrier device associated with the print head onto a substrate associated with the ink carrier device. A print parameter set characteristic of the ink carrier device is read from a memory associated with the ink carrier device in a read step preceding the determination step and the energy quantity is determined in the determination step using at least the print parameter set.

Abstract: A measuring arrangement and measurement method determine the play of a cartridge pivot unit of an inkjet printing system that has at least one stop for the cartridge pivot unit. The cartridge pivot unit is driven by a first motor via a gear train and is equipped with a first movement sensor to establish a movement of the cartridge pivot unit upon leaving the stop. The cartridge pivot unit moves only when the play of the gear train is overcome. The stop for the cartridge pivot unit is formed by a mobile cleaning and sealing station. A counter is provided to count pulses, the count being representative of the play of the gear train of the cartridge pivot unit counting begins with leaving the mobile stop and continues until the movement of the cartridge pivot unit upon leaving the stop again ensues in conformity with the actuation by the first motor.

Abstract: An apparatus for pressing flat materials onto a transport module includes pressing elements acting on the flat material with a spring force through an opening in a feed table for flat materials. The feed table is mounted above a lower housing shell. The pressing elements are configured as spring elements which can be lowered and are anchored in the lower housing shell. An actuating element is disposed in an indentation of a front wall of the lower housing shell in order to actuate a lowering apparatus disposed in the lower housing shell. The lowering apparatus has a lever connected mechanically to the actuating element and a slide coupled to the lever for lowering the spring elements upon actuation of the actuating element.

Abstract: In a method and arrangement for generation of an imprint with a printing device operating according to a dot matrix principle (in particular an inkjet principle), a dot pattern is provided for the imprint, with which the printing device image points corresponding to the provided dot pattern on a substrate. For at least one first image point a probability with which the image point is generated is provided. Whether this image point is actually generated on the substrate is determined in a decision step using a random generator and the probability. The image point is generated (or not) in a subsequent step dependent on the result of the decision step.

Abstract: In a correction method for a microprocessor-controlled digital regulation of a drive motor, wherein the measurement arrangement used for the regulation of the motor is simplified. recognizing that the real value surveying cannot always be implemented periodically by the microprocessor at the requested point in time, making sporadic measurement errors of a simplified measurement arrangement ineffectual, in accordance with the method individual measurement values with a sudden change are read out and correction values are used instead of these for the regulation.

Abstract: In a method and arrangement for preparation of data for loading from a first data processing device into a second data processing device via a first data connection, a number of transmission-ready transmission data packets are generated in at least one packetizing step from the data to be loaded into the second data processing device; and at least one load parameter influencing the total load time until a complete loading of the data into the second data processing device is determined in a determination step preceding the packetizing step. The generation of the transmission data packets ensues in the at least one packetizing step dependent on the first load parameter.

Abstract: In a method for generation of a secret session key for cryptographically securing a communication channel between a first communication partner and a second communication partner, the first communication partner generates at least one first key parameter, receives at least one second key parameter generated by the second communication partner, and generates the secret session key using the first key parameter and the second key parameter. The first communication partner generates, stores and communicates to the second communication partner a first random number, receives from the second communication partner a sent-back random number, compares the sent-back random number with the stored random number, and releases the generated secret session key for use given the presence of a predeterminable correlation between the sent-back first random number and the stored random number.

Abstract: A device cleans an inkjet printhead in a franking and/or addressing machine. The inkjet printhead is disposed in a stationary manner such that it can be pivoted in a printing window of a guide plate for the print carrier. A cleaning and sealing device is disposed behind the guide plate such that it can be displaced toward and away from the inkjet printhead. This improves the print quality, prolongs service life, and provides a high throughput rate. Spraying clear is possible both during the print carrier transport and in a rest position without the letter run being soiled. The cleaning and sealing device is disposed underneath the inkjet printhead to be displaced by an associated displacement device. A matched baffle piece is disposed underneath the inkjet printhead such that it can pivot and is coupled to the latter.

Abstract: In a method for compensation of the first postage value of an unusable printed franking imprint billed in a billing module of a franking arrangement, the occurrence of the unusable franking imprint is detected as a first error event, error information associated with the error event is stored, and information derived from the error information is transmitted to a reimbursement entity for initiation of the reimbursement of the postage value. The error amount information associated with the error event is increased by the postage value and the error amount information is transmitted to the reimbursement entity for initiation of the reimbursement of the postage value.

Abstract: A device spray cleans an inkjet print head. The purpose of the device is to avoid the formation of stalagmites during spray cleaning and therefore also to improve the print quality as a result of the fact that the transport device for the print carriers or items of mail is soiled as little as possible. This is achieved by a relative movement of a baffle element in a flat space or in a plane parallel to the nozzle surface of the at least one inkjet print head in conjunction with the spray cleaning.

Abstract: In a method and apparatus for improving the printing with a thermotransfer print head, an energy value is calculated before the printing process according to different types to be implemented when a dot is to be printed. Energy values also are calculated for the heating elements at the ends of the row of heating elements of the high-resolution thermotransfer print head, so as to activate these heating elements even though in heating phases no dot to be printed at the border external to the barcode image. Additionally, those heating elements that do not lie in the two border regions of the heating element row are also activated for a limited time duration, the aforementioned time duration directly preceding the printing of a barcode image. A microprocessor calculates the energy values and is connected with a pixel energy memory for non-volatile buffering of the data that are transferred into a print data controller and are converted into a print pulse duration.

The absorber material bears a hygroscopic material on its interior and/or exterior surfaces.

Abstract: A printing device has a print head which operates according to the inkjet principle and a control device which actuates the print head for producing a two-dimensional barcode. The barcode contains a matrix composed of a plurality of image fields. The barcode contains at least one first image field which is printed with a plurality of image points by the print head and at least one second image field which is substantially unprinted. The control device is configured for converting barcode data which define the position and size of the image fields into actuating signals for the print head. The control device is configured for converting the barcode data into actuating signals for the print head in such a way that at least one first image field is printed with a lower number of image points than corresponds to the barcode data.

Abstract: In a test automation method and test system for a user end apparatus that can be communicatively connected with a test automation apparatus, at least one data processing unit and a non-volatile memory for storage of a test workflow program as well as a first external interface and a second external interface are provided. The user end apparatus has at least one control unit, a non-volatile memory and an external interface. The user end apparatus is protected by a security housing and has an external interface that can be placed in communication with the special second external interface of the test automation apparatus. By loading release software, the user end apparatus is programmed to generate test output signals and to supply these to the external interface.

Abstract: An apparatus for changing ink cartridges of a printing apparatus having a transport apparatus for flat goods, a pressing apparatus and a printing module. The transport apparatus is disposed in a stationary manner in the printing apparatus opposite a pressing apparatus which presses an item of mail onto a transport belt. The transport belt, in a transport region, acts with a predetermined adhesive friction on a part of a surface of the item of mail which is not printed but is close to a region to be printed. A change position for ink cartridges is located before the transport region on a front side of the printing apparatus or above the transport region of an appropriately constructed transport apparatus.

Abstract: A transport apparatus for flat materials to be printed is used in a printing apparatus having a printing module. The transport apparatus is disposed in the printing apparatus in a stationary manner relative to a pressing apparatus which presses an item of mail onto the transport belt that acts on a part of a surface of the item of mail with a predefined adhesion friction in the transport region. That part of the surface of the item of mail is not printed but lies close to a region which is to be printed. Two deflection rollers and a supporting plate are provided for the transport belt, in order to form the transport region. The printing module protrudes at least partially into an intermediate space between the two deflection rollers. The printing module has at least one ink cartridge with an inkjet print head which is situated outside the transport region.

Abstract: A transport apparatus for flat materials which are to be printed has a number of spacer pieces which lie axially parallel with respect to one another and are disposed at two ends of a bearing plate of a roller carrier between a first and a second shaped part plate. The bearing plate is equipped with a pull rod for the defined deflection of the roller carrier with corresponding loading of the bearing plate by a mechanical tensile stress which is exerted by the pull rod, and is also equipped with a stressing and setting device, by way of which the tensile stress can be set, which is transmitted through stressing device to the two ends of the bearing plate.
