Abstract: A wave energy converter is provided which includes a central body including a nacelle, the nacelle housing at least one power take off. The wave energy converter also includes a first float and a first float arm coupled to the nacelle on a first side, and a second float and a second float arm coupled to the nacelle on a second side. The first float is rotatably coupled to the nacelle, the first float and the first float arm forming a first body configured to rotate, where the first body is operatively coupled to the at least one power take off such that relative motion between the first body and the central body generates energy in the at least one power take off. In one embodiment, the central body has a low reserve buoyancy, where the reserve buoyancy of the central body is lower than the reserve buoyancy of either of the first float and the second float, to minimize a heave response of the central body relative to the first float to increase output of the wave energy converter.

  • Patent number: 11619446
Abstract: A microwave drying device has a processing box. Two mounting openings are formed on an external mounting wall of the processing box. Two suction partitions are mounted in the processing box and divide an inner space of the processing box into a microwave drying space and two suction spaces. The microwave drying space is located between and connects to the two suction spaces. Multiple channel partitions are mounted in the microwave drying space to form a meandering wave travelling channel. Two opposite ends of the wave travelling channel connect to the two mounting openings respectively. Two microwave emitting modules are mounted on the external mounting wall and emit microwaves toward the two mounting openings respectively. Multiple openings are formed in the processing box such that a film can travel through the processing box. Therefore, drying speed is greatly increased, and the drying device is more compact.

  • Publication number: 20220029306
Abstract: A microstrip antenna corresponds to a rectangular resonator. The resonator has first and second sides being parallel to a first direction and having a length corresponding to 3/2 wavelength, and has a shape notched from each of the first and second sides toward a center of the resonator. The antenna includes: a first portion constituting a periphery of the notched shape; and second and third portions facing each other across the first portion. The notched shape allows the first portion to contribute to a radiation characteristic. The first, second, and third portions each have a length corresponding to ½ wavelength in the first direction. The first portion has a width in the second direction that is narrower because of the notched shape than that of the second and third portions. The second or third portion is provided with a feeding point.

  • Patent number: 10273930
Abstract: A power-take-off system for use in a wave energy converter buoy employs a meshing nut and screw shaft assembly for motion conversion. That is, the motion of the buoy float is coupled to drive the nut along the screw shaft on which it is mounted. The linear movement of the nut along the shaft causes the shaft to rotate and this rotational motion is then coupled to rotate an electrical generator.

  • Patent number: 9945348
Abstract: An electric generator driven by a source of variable energy produces at its output an alternating current (AC) output voltage and current which is converted via controllable active switching circuitry into a direct current (DC) voltage which is stored in an energy storage element. Power losses are associated with the active switching circuit and the AC to DC conversion. The power available at the output of the generator can be determined. If the available power is less than the power losses the controllable switching circuitry is disabled.

  • Patent number: 9790913
Abstract: A wave energy converter (WEC) buoy includes at least one pitch-driven WEC (“PDWEC”) device. Each PDWEC device includes two reaction masses which are placed at diametrically opposite ends of a container designed to float along the surface of a body of water and to move in response to the pitching motion of the waves. The reaction masses are interconnected so that when one reaction mass moves up, the diametrically opposed reaction mass moves down, and vice-versa. The movement of the reaction masses drives power take off (PTO) devices to produce useful energy. The reaction masses may be interconnected by any suitable linking system. One or more PDWEC device may be combined with a heave responsive device to produce a WEC buoy which can produce a power output in response to pitch or heave motion.
