    Abstract: A container for maintaining molten material at an elevated temperature below the decomposition temperature of the material is heated utilizing a relatively high temperature infrared source by interposing a heat absorbing means relatively spaced between the heat source and the container for absorbing the infrared radiation from the source and for transmitting secondary radiation at a substantially reduced temperature onto the container skin.
