Abstract: A coating composition suitable for producing coatings that are transparent to infrared radiation and can exhibit color stability, such as a jet black color. The coating compositions include a first tint having a low haze and a second tint having a high haze. The tints include visibly absorbing infrared transparent pigments.
Abstract: Disclosed are methods for removing rust from a ferrous metal-containing surface. These methods include contacting the surface with a composition that includes a carboxylic acid, a synthetic hectorite clay, and water.

Abstract: A resin containing a liquid pigment dispersion is disclosed. The dispersion comprises a pigment dispersed in a blend of two or more active hydrogen-containing materials that together have a freezing point that is room temperature or below, The pigment remains dispersed in the blend, even if the dispersion is subjected to freezing and thawing. A curative blend comprising at least two active hydrogen-containing materials, which is liquid at room temperature, is also disclosed. The dispersions and curative blends of the present invention can be solvent-free. Resins and prepolymers comprising the curative blends of the invention, either pigmented or unpigmented, are also disclosed.
Abstract: Disclosed are pigment dispersions and coating compositions that include such pigment dispersions. The pigment dispersions include: (a) a pigment; (b) an acid functional, hydroxyl functional and secondary amine functional acrylic polymer having a weight average molecular weight of at least 11,000; and (c) a liquid carrier comprising an organic solvent.

Abstract: Articles are disclosed wherein a color-imparting non-hiding coating layer is deposited on a surface thereof. The coating layer is deposited from a protective coating composition comprising color-imparting particles having a maximum haze of about 10% and a film-forming resin. Methods of using the coatings, and the substrates coated therewith, are also disclosed.

Abstract: Described herein is microporous precipitated silica having the following physico-chemical parameters: a CTAB surface area of 50 to 300 square meters/gram, a BET/CTAB ratio of ?1.3, and a relative breadth ? of pore size distribution of ?3.5. The precipitated silica can also have a Sears number of from 10 to 28 and a Sears number/CTAB ratio of ?0.16. Also described herein are vulcanizable and vulcanized elastomer compositions, e.g., tires, containing the microporous precipitated silica.
