  • Patent number: 6839850
Abstract: Disclosed is a Security Indications and Warning (SI&W) Engine usable in conjunction with an audit agent. The audit agent forwards normalized audits to the SI&W Engine. The SI&W Engine groups the normalized audits into related groupings. Gauges are used to count the number of occurrences of audited events. A statistical engine provides statistical representations of the number of events per user, per session and per node. A predetermined number of criteria are defined a particular gauge or gauge pair. There may be many criteria for a particular network. When a predetermined number of criteria within a criteria set are triggered, an indicator is triggered. More complex indicators can use combinations of lower level indicators to provide further indications of potential security threads. Thus, a hierarchical system of gauges, criteria and indicators is used to measure boundary violations and breaches of different barriers.

  • Patent number: 6741743
Abstract: Optical correlation (OC) technology, previously used with great success to detect tanks and other weaponry in aerial imagery, is used in the present invention with imaged pages which are stored as image templates. An image template of a search word, a classification, an agency seal or a particular individual's signature becomes the basis of a user query. The target to be detected can be text as image (a search word, a classification) or image as image (an agency seal, a signature). The result is a faster (not one or two, but hundreds of times faster), flexible method of automatically identifying documents that match a target image template.

  • Patent number: 6615135
Abstract: An accurate position of a mobile receiver is determined using a received positional signal having relatively low and high frequency noise components corrupting the positional accuracy of the positional signal. A low frequency error associated with a detected turn of the mobile receiver is derived and applied as a low frequency correction factor to positions of the receiver derived after the turn is detected. Resulting corrected positions are applied along with associated high frequency correction factors representative of the high frequency noise component to a predictive filter to derive predicted positions substantially free of the low and high frequency noise components.

  • Patent number: 6509828
Abstract: A smart interrogator can communicate with RF tags on multiple frequencies and bandwidths and can communicate with tags from various manufacturers and thus permits assets if to be tracked even if the assets are being tracked using tags from different manufacturers. The smart interrogators communicate with a logistics server via the Internet using transferable agents that forward tag information from the interrogator to the logistics server via a Java data base connection (JDBC). The logistics server communicates with a logistic server database where transaction information from the tags is logged. The information from the interrogator is forwarded to appropriate external server and networks over the Internet. A client can query the logistics server to determine the whereabouts and status of a particular asset. The logistics server can spawn a transferable agent to locate the asset.

  • Patent number: 6134664
Abstract: A method of reducing the volume of native audit data from further analysis by a misuse and intrusion detection engine is disclosed. Typically, more than ninety percent of the volume of audit information received from heterogeneous operating systems does not need to be analyzed by a misuse and intrusion detection engine because this audit information can be filtered out as not posing a security threat. Advantageously, by reducing (eliminating) the volume of audit information, a misuse and intrusion engine can more quickly determine whether a security threat exists because the volume of data that the engine must consider is drastically reduced. Also, advantageously, the audit information that is forwarded to the engine is normalized to a standard format, thereby reducing the computational requirements of the engine. The method of reducing the volume of native audit data includes comparing each of the native audits against at least one template and against at least one native audit.
