  • Patent number: 6404589
Abstract: A video cassette includes a skeletal structure with a polymeric sheet material stretched over its transverse faces and weighs less than 1 oz. to reduce shipping costs on high volume mailings. The polymeric sheeting material which may, for example, be vinyl or mylar with pre-printed graphics is attached using a heat staking process or an adhesive.

  • Patent number: 5957085
Abstract: Novel structures and methods are disclosed for creating and maintaining an underwater air chamber beneath a volume of water within a conventional aquarium for access by amphibious life within the aquarium to permit the amphibious life to selectively leave a water environment for a dry environment. In one embodiment, the underwater air chamber includes a hood secured to a base which defines a hollow chamber. After the apparatus is submerged in an aquarium, pressurized gas is introduced into the hollow chamber to create a dry environment within the hollow chamber. A gas effluent control is associated with the hood to selectively release the gas under pressure from within the chamber. An entryway into the chamber is also formed in the hood to permit amphibious life to selectively enter and exit the chamber, as well as to permit larger air bubbles to escape from within the air chamber. Another embodiment discloses an underwater air chamber formed integrally with an aquarium.

  • Patent number: 5458252
Abstract: A sealing cap and container combination primarily intended for use in medical applications. The sealing cap of the preferred embodiment includes a central dome-shaped portion, annular portion, and sealing portion. In use, these portions are initially received in the mouth of the container and assume an initial concave shape with the sealing portion of the cap abutting and sealing against the inner surface of the container mouth. Thereafter, as the pressure within the container increases, the concave dome first moves toward a flattened shape and then inverts to a convex shape. As the pressure further increases, the annular portion of the cap then moves to a flattened position substantially perpendicular to the axis of the cap. During all this controlled movement, the sealing force of the cap progressively increases from an initial force to a maximum sealing force.

  • Patent number: 5314323
Abstract: A stripper plate locking device for use with the mold in a molding machine (e.g., injection, compression or transfer) is presented. The mold has openings in each of the plates of the mold for accepting the stripper plate locking device. The device includes a release pin, a body member and a collet member. The pin has a shaft with a head disposed at one end and a first pair of camming surfaces with a shaft portion therebetween disposed at the other end. The body members has a second pair of camming surfaces with a cylindrical portion therebetween disposed at one end thereof and an opening therethrough wherein the shaft of the pin passes. The collet member has a plurality of expandable resilient fingers which define an opening. The collet member includes a third pair of camming surfaces with a first cylindrical section therebetween for expanding the fingers in cooperation with the first camming surface and the shaft portion of the pin.

  • Patent number: 4814530
Abstract: Sintered polybenzimidazole articles are obtained by compacting a particulate, dried polybenzimidazole resin under a pressure of 2,000 to 10,000 psi in a mold, heating the formed article to a temperature in the range of 825.degree. to 950.degree. F. for at least four hours, cooling the polybenzimidazole article to below 800.degree. F. while maintaining the article under a pressure of 2,000 to 10,000 psi, and thereafter heating the constrained formed polybenzimidazole article to a temperature in the range of 825.degree. to 950.degree. F. for at least one hour.
