  • Patent number: 9752840
Abstract: An Internet of Things (IoT) Automated Intelligence Module (AIM) (or sensor module) is mounted on a firearm to gather weapons intelligence data (including video/audio data) when a critical event, such as the firearm un-holstering, and/or discharge, as well as emergency situation, is (are) detected. The IoT sensor module is capable of immediate detection of un-holstering of the firearm, firearm discharge(s), the number of the discharges, as well as 3-D positioning of the firearm at the time of discharge, and notification alerts to designated recipients (i.e., computer aided dispatch, commanders, supervisors, superintendents, etc.) of the firearm status change or critical events in the field. The captured video/audio and the weapon's intelligence data are transmitted to end-users' application desktops, mobile devices, and/or web-based interfaces to provide the designated recipients with situational awareness of personnel in the field and crucial information that can be used for post crime scene analysis.
