Abstract: A system and method for preventing a deposition of a coating medium on at least a predetermined area of workpieces to be at least partially spray coated with the coating medium during a continuous spray coating operation. A covering arrangement is applied to the at least one predetermined area of the respective workpieces upon which the deposition of the coating medium is to be prevented prior to the continuous spray coating operation. The covering arrangement and the workpieces are simultaneously and synchronously advanced to the spray coating station so as to enable the continuous spray coating operation of the workpieces, with the predetermined areas covered by the covering arrangement being protected from deposition and/or contamination by the coating medium.
