    Abstract: The method is for monitoring water quality in a water system. A water pipe is provided for conveying water therein. A particle sensor is in operative engagement with the water pipe. The particle sensor continuously counts particles in the water of the water pipe. The particle sensor triggers the taking of a water sample only when the particle count reaches a predetermined level.
