Abstract: A pedal operated drum beater device (20) comprises a pedal (22) and a drum beater (24) mounted on shaft (36). The pedal (22) is coupled to shaft (36) by linkages (38, 40) such that depressing the pedal causes the shaft (36) to rotate, advancing the drum beater (24) from a rest position to an operative position. The downward movement of the pedal (22) is opposed by the resilience of elastomeric strip (26) which stretches and bends as the drum beater (24) moves into the operative position. The device (20) is attached to a drum by drum clamp (82), formed in two parts which consist of a drum-mounted rim clamp and a device-mounted, clamp holder. The rim clamp and clamp holder are releasably interlockable through pivotal engagement.
Abstract: In drum head tensioning mechanism of or for a musical drum, an intermediate hoop assembly or cage is secured about the drum shell by end abutment therewith and supports top and bottom drum heads. Top and bottom counterhoops are provided about the drum heads and respectively engage flesh hoops on the drum heads. Upper and lower tensioning bolt assemblies connect the counterhoops to the intermediate hoop assembly, the lower bolt assemblies extending upwardly towards and interspaced with the upper bolt assemblies whereby all the bolt assemblies are accessible for conveniently and independently adjusting both top and bottom drum head tension. The interior of the drum shell also remains "clean" for optimum sound quality.
Abstract: A musical drum is disclosed having an outer cage to which both top and bottom counterhoops are connected in an independently adjustable manner. An intermediate hoop (16) is provided between the top and bottom counterhoops (20, 22) to which a plurality of adjusting bolt assemblies (34, 24) for the top and bottom counterhoops (20, 22) are connected. The adjusting bolt assemblies (34) for the bottom counterhoop (22) are circumferentially offset with respect to the adjusting bolt assembles (24) for the top counterhoop (20).
