Abstract: A lighting fixture utilizing a housing surrounding a fluorescent light source. The housing has an aperture defining an edge portion for determining the cutoff angle of light emanating from the source. A first upper reflector is formed on the inner surface of the housing directing light from the source at angles ranging between the cutoff angle and angles less than the cutoff angle. The second reflector, located adjacent first reflector in the housing between the housing aperture and the first reflector, directs light from the source ranging between a selected angle, which is less than the cutoff angle, and at angles less than the selected angle. The result is a lighting fixture which possesses an optical delay in the activation in the second reflector as one approaches the optical axis from a peripheral position.

Abstract: A reflector for an illumination source manufactured by a spin chuck having an edge surface. The reflector includes a body having a contiguous portion composed of an endless outer surface and a reflective endless inner surface. The body further includes an opening communicating with the endless inner surface. The endless inner surface possesses a relatively fine pattern of depressions and protuberances derived from an edged surface of the spin chuck. The edge surface permits release of the body from the spin chuck although the body may be formed into a rounded or curved member.

Abstract: A universal bar hanger employed for supporting fixtures to a pair of structural bodies. The bar hanger utilizes an elongated section having first and second surfaces with an elongated slot which is formed between first and second surfaces. The slot possesses a selected length and width dimension. An end section possessing a connector for affixing the end section to the structural body is also included. The end section is joined to the elongated section. A protuberance connects to and extends from the first surface of the elongated section and has a first portion with selected dimension that is in excess of the width dimension of the slot, and a second portion with a selected dimension that is smaller than the selected width dimension of the slot.

Abstract: A control mechanism for use with a fluorescent lighting unit having at least first and second lamps utilizing a line switch. The mechanism includes an AC toggle which alternately interrupts and connects electrical power from a source to one of the first and second lamps, only. The toggle is responsive to the successive opening and closing of the line switch. A reset feature overrides the means for alternately interrupting and connecting power source to one of the pair of lamps by connecting power from the source to the second lamp. The reset feature is also responsive to the operation of the line switch.

Abstract: An ON-OFF switch system for use between first and second conductors utilizing a first plate having first and second sides. The second side of the face plate includes an appendage which contacts an arm passing through a second plate. First and second plates slidingly engage one another to operate the arm. The arm is further connected to one of a pair of electrical contact members and is movable to operate contacts of the electrical members.

Abstract: A device for detecting the level of heat generated by a lighting unit utilizing a sleeve possessing an end portion positioned adjacent to the exterior of the housing, an interior portion, and an exterior portion. A thermal protector is positioned at the interior portion of the sleeve at a selected distance from the exterior of the housing. Air is circulated between the exterior portion of the sleeve and the interior portion of the sleeve.

Abstract: A wall box mounted remotely operated voltage module utilizing a low voltage DC control signal which is remotely generated. A power semi conductor device is triggered to deliver a predetermined amount of power from the source of AC electrical power to a load. The AC electrical power is rectified and transformed to produce a low voltage rectified DC signal. A comparator generates a triggering signal to the power semi conductor utilizing the low voltage rectified DC signal and remotely generated low voltage DC control signal as imputs. The comparator also serves as a compensator for changes in the voltage of the AC electrical power from the source.

Abstract: A lighting fixture utilizing an electrical lamp connected to an electrical power source. The fixture entails a base member which is rotatably mounted to an object. A body is also provided which supports the electrical lamp. The body includes a first end portion and a second end portion, the first end portion of which rotates in relation to the body. A swivel member supported by the body rotates the lamp which is held to the swivel member.

Abstract: A luminaire utilizing a source of light which is reflected outwardly from the luminaire by a first and second reflector in side-by-side configuration. The second reflector is also positioned to one side or in surrounding relationship to the source of light. The light from the first reflector is adjusted to reinforce light coming from the second reflector in a predetermined direction.

Abstract: An adapter for electrically and mechanically attaching a lighting fixture to a lighting track which utilizes a body having first and second end portions. The first end portion of the body connects to the lighting track while the second end portion of the body holds the lighting fixture. The body includes a pair of conductors which are each held in a chamber formed by a recess in the body and a door connected to the body. One of the conductors is movable such that it extends further from the body than the other conductor which is compatible with a two circuit lighting track.

Abstract: A circuit for controlling the initiation and operation of a phase control circuit employed in voltage regulation to a load such as dimming lights. The circuit uses a power semi-conductor which is triggered by a "walk-in" circuit. The "walk-in" circuit includes a regulator diode across a diode bridge which stabilizes the output of the load, such as a level of lighting.

Abstract: The fastening device which employs an end element connected to a body to be supported to a structural member. The element has first and second sides and edges, and includes a portion for penetrating the structural member. The element is positioned in relation to the structural member by guides on either side of the element.

Abstract: A recessed lighting unit for supporting an energizing lamp adapted to fit into an electrical socket using a housing. The electrical socket and lamp are mounted in the housing. The housing includes an opening for the passage of light from the lamp to the area to be illuminated. A source of power runs to the socket through a wireway. A heat protection mechanism interrupts the flow of electrical power to the lamp and socket upon the generation of excess heat in the vicinity of the housing. The heat protection mechanism is mounted immediately adjacent the housing in the wireway and forms a structural unit with the housing and a junction box.
