Patents Assigned to Press-A-Lite Corporation
  • Patent number: 6039456
Abstract: A squeeze-activated flashlight including a housing adapted to receive a first battery and a second battery. A lamp holder is attached to one end of the housing and is adapted to receive an illuminating lamp. An electrical switch including a resiliently flexible arm is electrically connected to the batteries and the lamp. A flexible jacket covers and encloses the electrical switch, housing and batteries and is adapted to be squeezed and pressed inwardly to resiliently bend the arm into electrical contact with the batteries and thereby illuminate the lamp. The housing and switch are adapted to be machine assembled.

  • Patent number: 5730539
Abstract: A combination writing implement and flashlight including an electrically conductive generally tubular housing member having a chamber adapted to removably receive a battery. A rotatable electrical switch is attached to one end of the tubular member for providing selective electrical communication between the housing member and the battery disposed therein. A generally tubular sleeve formed from a light transmissive material is attached to the second end of the housing member. A writing device is located within the sleeve member and the writing tip of the writing device extends through the tip of the sleeve member. A retainer member located within the sleeve member secures the writing device to the sleeve member. An illuminating lamp is located within the housing and is engaged by the retainer member.

  • Patent number: 5660458
Abstract: A flashlight is provided comprising a housing including a first cradle having a chamber adapted to removably receive a first battery, a second cradle having a chamber adapted to removably receive a second battery, wherein the open tops of the first and second cradles face in generally the same direction relative to one another, and a lamp chamber located within the housing. A lamp is located within the lamp chamber. An electrical switch is adapted to selectively provide electrical communication between the first and second batteries and the lamp. A flexible jacket covers the electrical switch and the first and second batteries and is adapted be pressed inwardly to selectively close the electrical switch and thereby illuminate the lamp. A rotatable stem is attached to the end of the housing and is adapted to selectively retain the flexible jacket in position, but to allow the selective removal of the jacket to permit the replacement of the batteries.

  • Patent number: 4644451
Abstract: A miniature flashlight with solderless connections for electrical circuitry capable of illuminating a lamp by the squeezing of a flexible case holding said circuitry. The circuitry includes a spring switch arm capable of being depressed by squeezing said flexible case to achieve electrical communication between two batteries and complete the battery circuit in order to illuminate the lamp. The spring switch arm having a portion thereof in continuous contact with a positive terminal of one battery and having a portion being centrally hinged so that upon squeezing said flexible case the spring switch arm is limited in its bending to a portion between said hinge portion and a free end thereof to prevent inadvertent lighting of the lamp. The spring switch arm will slightly move against the positive terminal when pivoted whereby to self-clean the terminal during use. The batteries, lamp and spring switch arm are held by an insulative cartridge that holds the batteries in side-by-side relationship.

  • Patent number: 4628418
Abstract: A multi-purpose miniature pocket flashlight having a flexible case that contains a cartridge and lamp assembly. The cartridge is capable of holding a pair of batteries in association with a spring switch arm operable by squeezing the flexible casing to complete the electrical circuit and illuminate the lamp. The lamp and batteries are removable and replaceable by the provision of a removable cap means at either of the ends of said casing. The flashlight further includes a mounting magnet arranged within the case adjacent the cartridge whereby the flashlight may be magnetically secured against a metallic wall, for example. The invention also includes a bottom cap for said flexible casing that is designed to provide a watch chamber below said cartridge. The cap has a centrally open bottom wall that opens to said chamber.

  • Patent number: 4419718
Abstract: The simple switch of a small pocket flashlight consists of a single spring wire conductor extending from the center post positive terminal diagonally downwardly across the insulating body separating the two cells toward the uncovered metal can negative terminal of the other cell. When pressure is applied through the flexible nonconductive flashlight jacket, the wire conductor is brought into contact with the metal can negative terminal of the other cell to close the series circuit through the cells and lamp. In opening and closing the switch, bending of the wire conductor is limited to the portion remote from the positive terminal contact end by a fulcrum formed by a bend in the wire and engaging the insulating body between the two cells.
