  • Patent number: 9151107
Abstract: A sealing system seals the perimeter of insulated hinged double doors. The sealing system includes first and second exterior seals made of a monolithic, resilient and elastically deformable material. The first exterior seal has an elongated lobe for contacting the exterior of said door, and both of the first and second exterior seals have an interior lobe which contact one another when the doors are closed. The sealing system further includes first and second inner seals made of a monolithic, resilient and elastically deformable material, each having a pair of spaced-apart sealing lobes. The inner seals are mounted to respective doors in a staggered fashion, such that the respective pairs of sealing lobes interact with one another to create a redundant, weather-resistant and thermally robust seal when the double doors are closed.

  • Patent number: 9032668
Abstract: A roll-up door seal that may be monolithically formed from a single material of uniform density. The seal is sized and adapted to assemble to a standard roll-up door frame without a separate or dedicated frame structure. The seal provides redundant sealing surfaces, positioned to cooperate with both the door and door frame, which ensure an effective and durable fluid tight seal between the cargo space enclosed by the roll-up door and the ambient environment. The seal may be produced by extrusion from a flexible, weather resistant material such as EPDM, thereby providing a low cost solution for sealing roll-up doors having industry standard door frame constructions. The seal is firmly engageable with the door frame, such that the seal may be installed with little or no secondary fixation.

  • Publication number: 20140352227
Abstract: A one-piece seal is used between the rear doors of a semi-trailer truck and the rear frame of the truck, the seal having a good compression set resistance. The seal is made from multiple extrusion members that are fused, welded, or otherwise integrally, monolithically connected at corner joints to form a central opening. The extrusion members have a sealing profile, or cross-section, that allows for the compression and deflection of a pair of sealing lobes to create inner and outer seals, respectively, between the trailer frame and the door structure at the rear of a semi-trailer truck, as well as between the doors themselves.

  • Patent number: 8720907
Abstract: An expansion ring assembly seals a gasket with respect to an annular wall of a rigid structure. The expansion ring assembly includes two arcuate expansion ring bands that cooperate to define a generally circular profile. At one side of the expansion ring assembly, a first pair of ends of the expansion ring bands overlap and include a ratcheting mechanism which allows the ring to incrementally expand but not to contract. At another location of the expansion ring assembly, a second pair of ends are joined by a drive mechanism for engaging and driving apart the opposing ends of an expansion ring to thereby non-incrementally expand the ring. The ratchet mechanism may be used to initially set and hold the expansion ring against a gasket in a desired position and to provide an initial expansion pressure, i.e., for a coarse adjustment. The drive mechanism may then be used to provide a final expansion pressure of the gasket, i.e., for a fine adjustment.

  • Patent number: 8118519
Abstract: A grout and lifting tube for casting within a concrete segment. The tube provides enhanced sealing between the tube and the concrete to prevent moisture leakage into a structure formed by a plurality of the concrete segments. The tube includes a generally cylindrical body having an exterior with an anchoring rib structure, a threaded interior, a proximal end, a distal end. An annular gasket is disposed at the proximal end of the tube body, and may be secured to the proximal end of the tube body by a mechanical interlock and/or by unitary co-molding. After the concrete section is placed and grout is pumped through the tube, a plug is threadable into the proximal end of the tube to both compress the gasket between the plug and the tube at a first seal, and to compress the gasket between the plug and the concrete surrounding the proximal end of the tube at a second seal to provide robust, watertight sealing.

  • Publication number: 20110074116
Abstract: An expansion mechanism of the type that may be used with a seal for sealing a connection about the upper end of a concrete structure, such as providing as seal across a manhole frame, optionally one or more spacer rings, and the upper end of a manhole chimney or riser, or which may be used with a seal for internally sealing a connection between a pair of pipes. The expansion mechanism includes a pair of ring portions and a pair of expansion mechanisms that include pivotal connections to the ring portions such that the assembly may be moved or folded between a folded configuration, in which the assembly has a reduced profile to allow the assembly to be moved into place at the sealing site, and a deployed configuration, in which the assembly has a cylindrical shape and is expandable to compress the seal against a cylindrical surface.

  • Patent number: 7350827
Abstract: An expansion ring assembly and method for sealingly installing a gasket within an opening in a wall of a structure. The expansion ring assembly includes an expansion ring having first and second adjacent end portions, and first and second cam members are rotatably coupled to the first and second end portions. Each cam member includes tool engagement structure for rotating the cam members, and cam surfaces of the cam members are engageable with one another such that, upon rotation of each cam member, the cam surface thereof engages the cam surface of the other cam member to drive the first and second end portions of the ring apart from one another, thereby radially expanding the ring to compress a gasket into sealing engagement with the wall opening. Only one cam member may be rotated, or alternatively, both cam members may be rotated sequentially, depending upon the amount of expansion which is needed.

  • Patent number: 7263746
Abstract: An expansion ring assembly for sealing a gasket within an opening in the wall of a structure, the assembly including a drive mechanism having a pair of block members each having a threaded bore, and a bolt having oppositely threaded ends respectively threaded within the bores. The block members are removably engaged with respective ends of the expansion ring. An oversleeve is disposed in overlapping relationship with the expansion ring ends, and the expansion ring ends and the oversleeve include cooperating ratcheting structures. Rotation of the bolt of the drive mechanism in a first direction causes the block members to move outwardly along the bolt to expand the expansion ring and concurrently sequentially engage the ratcheting structures of the expansion ring ends and the oversleeve.
