Patent number: 6527614Abstract: A game call assembly system and method includes a game call apparatus which has a reed assembly, a stopper, and a barrel. The reed assembly includes a sounding board, a reed, and a wedge which are inserted as a unit into an end of the stopper. A rotation restrictor in the form of a keyway is interposed between the reed assembly and the stopper to restrict relative rotational movement of the reed assembly relative to the stopper. An insertion stop is provided on the reed assembly to limit the extent to which the reed assembly is inserted into the stopper. A unique wedge allows adjustment of the wedge relative to the reed without changing the location of the reed relative to the sounding board.Type: GrantFiled: May 31, 2002Date of Patent: March 4, 2003Assignee: Primos, Inc.Inventor: Wilbur R. Patent number: 6413140Abstract: A modular elk call system comprising generally a mouthpiece assembly, a tubular portion, and a resonance producing end. The mouthpiece assembly can be completely removed from the call to enable the tubular section and resonance producing end piece to be used separately with any other type of call. The mouthpiece assembly comprises a detachable snap-on diaphragm that insures accurate, consistent tension of the membrane to allow high quality tones to be produced. Alternatively, a sheet of membrane material can be attached to the end of the mouthpiece assembly to create high quality tones. The resonance producing end piece allows the call to produce a resonant sound highly similar to a bugling bull elk.Type: GrantFiled: July 29, 1997Date of Patent: July 2, 2002Assignee: Primos, Inc.Inventor: Wilbur R. Patent number: 6328626Abstract: A game call having a striking member and a body member, the body member forming an enclosure about a central cavity and having a pair of opposing edges defining a longitudinal opening that is contiguous with the central cavity. The body member has an inner surface and an outer surface, with a scalloped surface extending from the outer surface adjacent each of the opposing edges. The striking member is engaged against the body member in combinations of striking actions and sliding actions along one or both of the scalloped surfaces to create sounds similar to rattling antlers of antlered game.Type: GrantFiled: October 19, 1999Date of Patent: December 11, 2001Assignee: Primos, Inc.Inventor: Steve D. Patent number: 6234859Abstract: An adjustable game call apparatus includes a sounding board, an air passageway formed in the sounding board, and a vibrating reed positioned within the air passageway adjacent the sounding board. A pair of guide posts extend upward from the sounding board to receive a pair of cut-out areas formed in the reed. The slots and posts allow the reed to be longitudinally adjustable relative to the sounding board of the game call apparatus. Another aspect of the game call apparatus comprises a moisture diverter system which involves a plurality of diverters formed in the sounding board to direct moisture away from the reed and toward a trough formed in the sounding board. The diverters also provide a precision tuning system for the game call to ensure the full high and low ends of the desired range of tones are produced by the game call.Type: GrantFiled: June 7, 1999Date of Patent: May 22, 2001Assignee: Primos, Inc.Inventors: Wilbur R. Primos, David A. Cardin

Patent number: 6210251Abstract: A feathered game call apparatus that simulates the wing sounds of a game bird. One preferred game call comprises an array of feathers and a handle having a gripping portion for manually manipulating the call and a feather-receiving area. The array of feathers is sequentially grouped and nested closely together so as to resemble an actual wing of a game bird. Each feather comprises a stem end and a tip end. The feathers are arranged generally in a spaced relationship in a common plane. The stems converge toward a common point of intersection at the handle, and diverge outwardly away from the handle to form a plurality of acute angles with respect to each other. The feathers are flared outwardly in a cantilevered, sequential, fan-shaped, nested fashion from the handle. An end feather may be turned inwardly to simulate the make-up of an actual wing of a game bird.Type: GrantFiled: December 5, 1998Date of Patent: April 3, 2001Assignee: Primos, Inc.Inventors: Wilbur R. Patent number: 5803785Abstract: A game call is disclosed which includes a bell, a sound generator in communication with the bell, a bellows in communication with the sound generator, and a cap removably attached to the bell to substantially prevent the game call from sounding while the cap is attached to the bell and to prevent debris from entering the game call. To facilitate attachment of the cap to the bell, a groove is formed on the cap interior surface, the groove being sized to interlock with a lip formed on the bell exterior surface to provide a secure interlocking relationship between the cap and the bell. A cap tether which effectively couples the call to the game call is provided to prevent the cap from being lost or misplaced while not attached to the bell.Type: GrantFiled: May 20, 1997Date of Patent: September 8, 1998Assignee: Primos, Inc.Inventors: James A. Patent number: 5520567Abstract: A game call in the form of a diaphragm call includes an upwardly extending shelf which extends over a substantial portion of the latex membrane. The shelf provides a constant distance above the latex membrane to render the call easier to use and prevent the caller from damaging the latex membrane from upward pressure by the tongue. The shelf may be adjusted to vary the distance between the shelf and top surface of the latex membrane.Type: GrantFiled: May 10, 1995Date of Patent: May 28, 1996Assignee: Primos, Inc.Inventor: Rockie L. Patent number: 5484319Abstract: A box call apparatus including a box frame and a hinged lid pivotally coupled to the box frame. The lid includes a main body section and a sound producing section for contacting the box frame. The main body section of the lid is injection molded. The sound producing section is mounted in a recessed area formed in the main body section. The sound producing section can be made of wood, etched glass, slate, or any suitable material. The relatively small sound producing section reduces the overall amount of fine tuning required in manufacturing the box call, and the overall cost and time required to produce the lid. The lid may include an arrangement for varying the weight along its length to fine tune the sounds produced by the box call.Type: GrantFiled: January 10, 1995Date of Patent: January 16, 1996Assignee: Primos, Inc.Inventor: Michael L. Patent number: 5148183Abstract: There is disclosed herein a four-way antenna system having a hollow antenna body to which four antennae are attached and which can be mounted on the outside of a land, sea or air transport vehicle. The first antenna, mounted on the top of the antenna body, receives radio signals. The second antenna, also mounted on the top of the antenna body, receives VHF signals. The third antenna, mounted on the side of the antenna body, receives and transmits telephone signals. The fourth antenna, also mounted on the side of the antenna body, receives and transmits CB signals. An aluminum reflector is attached to the antenna body to reduce no interference between CB amd VHF signals. The four antennae are attached to the antenna body in such a manner that interference between all the incoming and outgoing signals are minimized. In addition, the entire system is small and compact, and can be easily mounted on the outside of any land, sea, or air transport vehicle.Type: GrantFiled: June 1, 1990Date of Patent: September 15, 1992Assignee: Algira Primo Inc.Inventor: Alfredo Aldama
