Patent number: 11925376Abstract: Apparatus and methods are described for treatment of a urethra that is constricted due to benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). A positioning device is used to determine a location of the area of the urethra that is constricted and is to be treated. An execution device includes a dilation balloon, a cutter, an implant carrier, and an implant, the implant and the implant carrier both being disposed outside the outer surface of the dilation balloon. The urethra is dilated by expanding the dilation balloon, and a cut is formed in the inner surface of the urethra using the cutter. The implant is released into the cut within the inner surface of the urethra subsequent to the cutter forming the cut in the inner surface of the urethra, to thereby maintain the urethra in a dilated state. Other embodiments are also described.Type: GrantFiled: November 23, 2021Date of Patent: March 12, 2024Assignee: ProArc Medical Ltd.Inventors: Shai Golan, Raz Bar-On, Boaz Harari, Yair Feld

Patent number: 11724076Abstract: A dilation device for an intrabody lumen, for example, a urethra partially occluded by an enlarged prostate in the form of a curved element configured to be implanted around the lumen and add resilience to the lumen, and a method for dilating such a lumen by implanting a dilation device around the outside of the lumen with at least part of the dilation device embedded in surrounding, thereby preventing clinically significant compression of the lumen. Also, an implantation device for such a dilation device in the form of a mounting device configured to carry the dilation device; and a releasably attached movable holder, with the mounting device and holder configured to deliver the dilation device though a working channel to a desired position in a lumen, and to implant the dilation device through a wall of the lumen to a position surrounding the lumen.Type: GrantFiled: August 29, 2019Date of Patent: August 15, 2023Assignee: ProArc Medical Ltd.Inventor: Yair Feld

Publication number: 20180344995Abstract: A dilation device for an intra-body lumen, for example, a urethra partially occluded by an enlarged prostate in the form of a resilient curved body configured to be implanted in a cut around the lumen, and a method for dilating such a lumen by implanting a dilation device in a cut around the outside of the lumen. Also, a deployment system including a delivery device for the implant, and a device for dilating the lumen before and while the cut is being made, and a method of using the implant and the deployment system. The implant may be formed of a strip or a coiled wire. The cut may be performed in part by the implant. The cut may be performed by a sharp edge, and/or by application of electrical current to the area being cut, or by a piezoelectric transducer.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 30, 2018Publication date: December 6, 2018Applicant: ProArc Medical Ltd.Inventors: Raz BAR-ON, Roni SHABAT, Shai GOLAN, Yoav LENGEL, Yair FELD
