  • Patent number: 5124883
Abstract: A power plug (10) for a printed circuit board (12) has a main contact body (30). The body (30) has a generally cylindrical portion (32), which is threaded at (34) on its outside surface along its length. An integral spring contact portion (36) projects from the cylindrical portion (32). The spring contact portion (36) has enlarged tips (46) and a pair of opposed slots (48). The portion (36) extends through a board contact and heat sink (50) and has a contact ridge (52), which engages the plated through main contact hole (24). The plug (10) is installed by first inserting legs (54) of the board contact/heat sink (50) into mounting holes (26). Spring contact portion (36) of the contact body (30) is then inserted through the board contact/heat sink (50) into the main contact hole (24) of the printed circuit board (12), with the enlarged tips (46) extending along the greater diameter of the oval.

  • Patent number: 5055055
Abstract: An electrical connector (15) for a power distribution system including an electrically conductive body (17) with a socket (22) for receiving an electrically conductive contact pin (18), contact terminals (20) for connecting connector (15) to a printed circuit board, and an insulating housing (14) mounted on and substantially surrounding the body (17). The conductive body (17), in combination with the housing (14), may serve as a female-type connector to slidably receive a contact pin or a male-type connector to securely retain a contact pin. Contact pin (18) may be floatingly mounted in socket (22) to accommodate misalignments between printed circuit boards.

  • Patent number: 4854899
Abstract: A modular connector (40) has a polyester housing (42) with a rubber grommet (43) through which pins (12) crimped to wires (48) pass to plug into sockets (46). The housing (42) has an array (50) of receptacles (52) for the sockets (46). The sockets (46) have a cylindrical beryllium copper alloy body (54) with cantilever spring elements (56) positioned at 180 degrees with respect to each other on the body (54). The body (54) has a distal end (60) with three fingers (62) extending from the distal end (60). The three fingers (62) are positioned on the body (54) at 120 degrees with respect to one another and so that they are radially displaced with respect to the cantilever spring elements (56). The fingers (62) incline from the distal end (60) of the body (54) so that the tips (64) are contiguous to axis (66) of the body (54) when pins (12) are not plugged into the sockets (46). Body (54) of each socket (46) engages a common bus element (70).

  • Patent number: 4824380
Abstract: A modular connector (10) has a generally rectangular insulating housing (12). A one piece conductive member (14) is mounted within and extends from the housing (12). The conductive member (14) has a common conductive portion (16), compliant pin portions (18) extending from the common conductive portion (16), a socket portion (20) extending from the common conductive portion (16), and a tail portion (22) connected to a bus element (23). The socket portion (20) has a circular receptacle (24) in face (25) for receiving a mating pin contact (52) of another connector (10) and a plurality of tines (28) extending axially with respect to the receptacle (24) to engage the mating pin contact (52). The housing (12) has a substantially open bottom (30) having slots (32) along sides (34), which receive the pin portions (18) of the conductive member (14).

  • Patent number: 4662706
Abstract: An electrical contact device for use as part of an electrical contact unit. The device comprises a body having a central part and a pair of end parts, one of the end parts adapted to be coupled to a wire and the other end part defining an extension which is removably received within a second, tubular contact element forming another part of the electrical contact unit. A sleeve surrounds the extension and is spaced therefrom to present an annular space for receiving the tubular element. A male contact band surrounds and is coupled to the extension and a female contact band is carried within the sleeve. Both bands have electrically conductive, curved contact members which project into the annular space from opposite directions and contact the inner and outer surfaces, respectively, of the tubular element when the same is in the annular space between the extension and the sleeve.
