Patent number: 4576817Abstract: Enzymatic absorbent materials such as bandages and pads, for body contact applications, contain serum-activated oxidoreductase enzyme for producing hydrogen peroxide upon contact of the enzymatic materials with serum. An illustrative serum-activated oxidoreductase enzyme is glucose oxidase with the corresponding substrate in serum being glucose.Type: GrantFiled: June 7, 1984Date of Patent: March 18, 1986Assignee: Laclede Professional Products, Inc.Inventors: Robert E. Montgomery, Michael A. Pellico

Patent number: 4564519Abstract: A di-enzymatic chewable dentifrice is provided which contains an oxidizable substrate and an oxidoreductase enzyme specific to such substrate for producing hydrogen peroxide upon chewing of the dentifrice and further contains a thiocyanate salt and lactoperoxidase for interacting with hydrogen peroxide to produce a hypothiocyanate bacterial inhibitor. The concentration of lactoperoxidase is at least about 2% of the concentration of the oxidoreductase enzyme, in International Units, to thereby limit the ratio of hydrogen peroxide to lactoperoxidase during oral chewing of the dentifrice. An illustrative enzymatic system for this purpose contains glucose, glucose oxidase, potassium thiocyanate and lactoperoxidase.Type: GrantFiled: December 8, 1983Date of Patent: January 14, 1986Assignee: Laclede Professional Products, Inc.Inventors: Michael A. Pellico, Robert E. Montgomery

Patent number: 4537764Abstract: An enzymatic dentifrice is provided which contains an enzyme system comprising Beta-D-glucose and glucose oxidase for producing hydrogen peroxide upon oral application of the dentifrice. The enzymatic dentifrice is stabilized against the production of hydrogen peroxide prior to oral application of the dentifrice by limiting any water in the dentifrice to an amount not more than about 10 wt. % based on the weight of the dentifrice.Type: GrantFiled: June 6, 1983Date of Patent: August 27, 1985Assignee: Laclede Professional Products, Inc.Inventors: Michael A. Pellico, Robert E. Montgomery

Patent number: 4515913Abstract: Powdered alginate compositions formulated with a polymer comprising polyacrylamide have enhanced smoothness characteristics upon admixing with water to obtain orally settable, dental impression material.Type: GrantFiled: November 14, 1983Date of Patent: May 7, 1985Assignee: Laclede Professional Products, Inc.Inventor: Michael A. Pellico

Patent number: 4468484Abstract: An oral, settable, dental composition is prepared by interacting Component A containing an alkali metal alginate in an aqueous paste with Component B containing a divalent metal salt such as calcium sulfate and a reaction rate retarder such as tetrasodium pyrophosphate in a fluid plasticizer paste that is substantially free of unbound water. A non-grainy, smooth texture of the pre-set, blended components is obtained by incorporating into Component A a polymer comprising polyacrylamide.Type: GrantFiled: May 2, 1983Date of Patent: August 28, 1984Assignee: Laclede Professional Products, Inc.Inventor: Michael A. Pellico

Patent number: 4401894Abstract: An automatic uninterrupted direct current power source switch utilizes a voltage controlled latching relay for switching over between direct current voltage sources, such as batteries, which supply power to a common load, with virtually no interruption in load current being experienced during the switchover. The power source switch is intended to be used with two independent direct current voltage sources in conjunction with a recording device which receives its power through either one or the other of the voltage sources, depending on the state of the latching relay. The latching relay will change state when the voltage powering the recording device reaches an adjustable trigger level which is below the nominal working voltage, provided that there is a second direct current voltage source connected to the power source switch and the second direct current voltage source has a terminal voltage near the nominal working voltage.Type: GrantFiled: December 24, 1980Date of Patent: August 30, 1983Assignee: Professional Products, Inc.Inventor: Daniel M. Weisner

Patent number: 4378572Abstract: A pulse generating electronic circuit is utilized as a matching network between a line operated video tape recorder (VTR) and a battery powered portable camera. Through the use of appropriate logic circuitry, the pause control button of the VTR, which normally operates to provide an on or off signal pulse, is disabled, and the time delay experienced by a camera activated electrical signal passing through the VTR electronics is utilized to generate the on or off signal pulse.Type: GrantFiled: January 29, 1981Date of Patent: March 29, 1983Assignee: Professional Products, Inc.Inventor: Frank H. Hoffmann

Patent number: 4291025Abstract: An agar gel topical dressing for coating a burn area or other area of skin impairment is prepared by heating and agitating a mixture of agar, diethylene glycol and water to solubilize the agar. The resulting solution, upon cooling to its gelation temperature, is converted to a thermally reversible agar gel. Application of the agar gel as a burn coating is undertaken by heating the gel to obtain a sol, applying the sol to the burn area at a tissue compatible temperature, and allowing the sol to cool and set in the form of a gel.Type: GrantFiled: April 11, 1980Date of Patent: September 22, 1981Assignee: Laclede Professional Products, Inc.Inventor: Michael A. Pellico

Patent number: 4269822Abstract: An antiseptic dentifrice is provided which contains an enzyme system comprising an oxidizable amino acid substrate and an oxidoreductase enzyme specific to such substrate for producing hydrogen peroxide and ammonia upon oral application of the dentifrice. In an illustrative enzyme system for this purpose, the substrate is glycine and the oxidoreductase enzyme specific to this substrate is glycine oxidase.Type: GrantFiled: August 29, 1980Date of Patent: May 26, 1981Assignee: Laclede Professional Products, Inc.Inventors: Michael A. Pellico, Robert E. Montgomery

Patent number: 4023718Abstract: A spray dispenser including a hollow casing, having sockets in each of which a pair of O-ring seals is mounted. A ball valve is urged toward one of the O-ring seals of each socket. A housing is removably mounted in the casing. Hollow lugs on the housing each having a cylindrical outer face are received inside O-ring seals in sealing relation therewith. Each lug unseats the associated ball valve. When the housing is removed, the ball valve seats against one O-ring seal when the housing is removed from the casing while the lug is in sealing engagement with the other O-ring seal. Compressed air and liquid under pressure are directed through the sockets to a dispensing valve member on the housing, and the pressure need not be released when the housing is removed.Type: GrantFiled: March 14, 1975Date of Patent: May 17, 1977Assignee: Revlon-Realistic Professional Products, Inc.Inventors: Arthur W.
