  • Patent number: 5373657
Abstract: A sight apparatus is formed of a small housing having a curved top and an internally disposed chamber which is intended to be positioned generally at the location of a normal front sight as used with firearms intended for shooting remote targets. The housing incorporates a switchable light emitter such as an LED of substantial brightness which is positioned adjacent a small collimation chamber and exit aperture pointed parallel with the gun barrel axis toward the shooter's eye station. The brightness of this emitter output is selected with respect to the brightness of the ambient suround about the target so as to achieve enhanced brightness contour via physiological lateral inhibition within the shooter's eye. There then results a sharp sighting imagewhich represents gun tip positional data to the shooter. This data is available to the shooter even though both eyes are focused at the remote field of the target, generally at infinity, and defocused at the tip of the gun barrel.

The housing incorporates a switchable light emitter such as an LED of substantial brightness which is positioned adjacent a small collimation portion and exit aperture pointed parallel with the gun barrel axis toward the shooter's eye station. • Patent number: 5134552
Abstract: A lighted nock is provided for an arrow which undergoes an initial acceleration when shot from a bow and thereupon reaches a zero acceleration during flight shortly in front of the bow. The nock is formed of transparent material within which is embedded a light emitting diode. An elongate cavity is positioned within the forward portion of the nock and within that cavity there is slidably located an elongate battery having a rod-shaped forward electrode and a rear face forming a second electrode. An energy storing spring is positioned within the cavity and a second cavity is positioned adjacent the first cavity. Within the second cavity there is located an electrical contact and between the two cavities is a position delimiter formed as an annular silicone ring.

  • Patent number: 5118117
Abstract: A recreational dart is described which includes a body portion or barrel which is hollow and within which there is provided a spring bias mass which exhibits a momentum during the flight of the dart towards a target. As the dart reaches the target and the point commences to be embedded therein, the mass slides forwardly against a retaining spring to impart its momentum to the dart somewhat in the manner of a dead blow hammer. The point of the dart is retained in a normal position aligned with the central axis of the dart body by a spring contained within the dart body. Should the point strike a non-yielding portion of a target such as a wire scoring boundary, the point will be permitted to deflect and retract rearwardly until striking a camming surface which enhances its off axis orientation and thus permits the dart to slide off of the boundary wire and enter the target to avoid "bounce out".

  • Patent number: 5102362
Abstract: An illuminator assembly is disclosed which is formed from a light emitting diode (LED) having two electrode pins extending therefrom which are cut to predetermined lengths. One lead then is formed to provide a circularly shaped spring support base and the other lead is bent to provide an attachment portion extending through the center of the opening formed by the spring support base. A capture spring of conical configuration then is attached to the centrally disposed lead which extends through the spring support base opening. A compressible coil switching spring then is attached to the spring support base. The assemblage thus formed is employed with a battery of a variety having a forward face which engages the free end of the switching spring and which includes a rod shaped electrode extending from the center portion thereof.
