Patent number: 11911989Abstract: A press frame assembly includes a base plate, a load cell, and an overload protection element; a first plate, a plurality of guideposts disposed on the base plate; a plurality of springs disposed on the plurality of guideposts, a displacement transducer arranged to monitor a linear displacement of the first plate, and a controller, in communication with the load cell and the displacement transducer. The first plate is disposed to translate on the plurality of guideposts, and wherein the springs are disposed to urge movement of the first plate in relation to the base plate. The load cell is arranged to monitor a load exerted upon the base plate. The controller generates a signal that is based upon the load exerted upon the base plate or the linear displacement of the first plate in relation to the base plate.Type: GrantFiled: November 15, 2019Date of Patent: February 27, 2024Assignee: Promess, Inc.Inventors: Cole D. Paul, Matthew R. Rall, Andrew H. Joseph, Glenn W. Nausley, Jr.

Patent number: 11872737Abstract: A system, method and apparatus for controlling an injection unit to transfer a material to a mold cavity includes a first actuator and a second actuator, and a controller that is operatively connected to the first actuator and the second actuator. The first and second actuators are coupled to a ram of the injection unit. The first actuator rotates the ram within the barrel, and the second actuator translates the ram within the barrel. During a material fill stage of an injection cycle, the controller controls the first actuator to rotate the ram within the barrel. The controller also controls the second actuator to translate the ram within the barrel, and controls the second actuator to retract the ram away from a nozzle of the injection unit while exerting a compression force on the ram towards the nozzle.Type: GrantFiled: July 28, 2021Date of Patent: January 16, 2024Assignee: Promess, Inc.Inventors: Scot Stodart, Andrew H. Joseph, Glenn W. Nausley, Jr.

Publication number: 20230297063Abstract: A system for straightening a workpiece includes a fabricating machine; a dimensional measurement system; a machine learning module; and a controller. The controller determines a plurality of design dimensions for the workpiece, and determines, via the dimensional measurement system, a plurality of initial dimensional parameters for the workpiece. A plurality of settings for the fabricating machine are determined, via the machine learning module, based upon the plurality of initial dimensional parameters for the workpiece and the plurality of design dimensions for the workpiece. The workpiece is secured into the fixture, and the fabricating machine is arranged employing the plurality of settings. The fabricating machine executes a plurality of operations on the workpiece employing the plurality of settings for the fabricating machine, and the dimensional measurement system verifies that the workpiece exhibits the plurality of design dimensions.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 16, 2023Publication date: September 21, 2023Applicant: Promess, Inc.Inventors: Andrew H. Joseph, Neil Suva, Matthew R. Rall, Bret Tucker, Scot C. Stodart, Glenn W. Nausley, JR.

Patent number: 7876324Abstract: A method and system for developing a strategy for use in a controller and storage medium for storing instructions which effectuate the method are provided. A computer graphical approach of at least one embodiment of the invention eliminates computer programming by presenting a user with a blank 2-dimensional graph on a computer screen along with X and Y axes. Using available toolbars and palettes, the user drags appropriate graphical objects into the graph. Each object represents an operation to perform data analysis or monitoring such as: data acquisition, data transformation or operating limits.Type: GrantFiled: April 12, 2007Date of Patent: January 25, 2011Assignee: Promess, Inc.Inventors: Andrew H. Joseph, Larry E. Stockline
