Abstract: An antenna array device is steered laterally (horizontally) by phase shifting the RF signal at each column of the array. The phase shifting is incremented column by column. Control signals provided to the phase shifters control the steering. The antenna array device may be an MIMO antenna, with at least two arrays. Two different DC control signals may be combined with two RF signals, with the different DC control signals used to control a left or right side of each of the two antenna arrays.

  • Patent number: 9389904
Abstract: An apparatus, system, and method are disclosed for offloading data processing. An offload task hosted on a first data processing system provides internal functionality substantially equivalent to that of a second task 304 hosted on a second data processing system of a potentially different architecture. A proxy task hosted on the second data processing system provides an external interface substantially equivalent to that of the second task. A communication mechanism between the first and second data processing systems may be comprised of a network, shared storage, and shared memory. The proxy task substantially replaces the second task, delegating the internal functionality of the second task to the offload task via mapping of arguments and accessing and translating of input and output data as required.

  • Patent number: 9020537
Abstract: Aspects of the invention provide techniques and systems for delivering geographically-relevant content to a mobile device. Geolocation and orientation data is taken from the mobile device, including directional orientation and a vertical angle of the mobile device as it is being pointed at a physical locale. Based on the geolocation and orientation data, an angular field of view is identified relative to a real-world coordinate system. Geospatial data describing the field of view is transmitted to a central server, which, based on geospatial coordinates of pre-defined virtual locales identifies the spatially corresponding virtual locale(s) and sends spatial definitions and structurally-organized content related to the virtual locale(s) back to the device.

  • Patent number: 8847780
Abstract: The invention relates to a proximity detection system. The invention provides a proximity detection system comprising a generator that generates a magnetic field that establishes a boundary, where the generator is capable of receiving radio frequency signals. Also provided is a radio frequency device that sends radio frequency signals, the radio frequency device being capable of sensing the magnetic field and generating a radio frequency response. In the proximity detection system, the generator generates the magnetic field for a first predefined time period, and thereafter senses for a radio frequency response signal from the radio frequency device within a second predefined time period. The invention also provides for shaping proximity detection zones by overlaying magnetic field boundaries to produce a different boundary. The invention also provides for varying the strength of magnetic fields by adjusting a width of a timed pulse.

  • Patent number: 8810390
Abstract: Various proximity detection zones for work sites that require personnel to be in close proximity to various hazardous elements, such as machines, mobile equipment, remotely controlled machines, and operated vehicles can be shaped to fit specific equipment or work area configurations and may include one or more silent zones within the proximity warning zone in which an alarm is not sounded. The zones are determined by overlapping magnetic fields that expand and collapse at a selected operating frequency. Devices sense and measure the strength of the magnetic fields in which they are located and use the information to determine if they are in a silent or warning zone. Thus, it is possible to produce silent zones having desired shapes.
