Abstract: The invention concerns a flat fire-resistant safety cable (1), comprising: at least two electrical conductors (3), one insulating layer (4) around each electrical conductor (3) to provide at least two insulated elements (5), the insulating layer (4) consisting of at least one polymeric material transformable at least at the surface into ceramic state at high temperatures in case of fire; and an outer sheath (6) enclosing said insulated elements (5), said cable having, in cross-section, an outer profile including at least two substantially planar and substantially mutually parallel surfaces, and the insulated conductors being adjacent to each other, side by side and their axes being located in a common plane included between said at least two surfaces.

Abstract: A fire-resistant safety cable may include at least two electrical conductors, an insulating layer around each of the at least two electrical conductors in order to obtain at least two insulated elements, and an outer jacket surrounding the at least two insulated elements. The cable may have, in cross-section, an external outline including at least two substantially plane faces that are substantially parallel to each other. The insulating layer may be formed from at least one polymeric material being adapted to be converted, at least on a surface of the at least one polymeric material, into a ceramic state at high temperatures in a fire. The at least two insulated elements may be mutually adjacent, side by side, with axes of the at least two insulated elements lying in a plane between the at least two substantially plane faces.

Abstract: A fire-resistant safety cable may include at least two electrical conductors separated from each other by at least one space. The cable may include a common insulating layer surrounding the at least two electrical conductors, the common insulating layer being formed from at least one polymeric material that is adapted to be converted, at least on a surface of the at least one polymeric material, to a ceramic state at high temperatures in a fire. The cable may include an outer jacket. The outer jacket may surround the common insulating layer. The cable may have, in cross-section, at least two substantially plane faces that are substantially parallel to a plane in which axes of the at least two electrical conductors lie. A process for manufacturing the cable may include feeding the at least two electrical conductors into an extrusion head and extruding the at least one polymeric material over them.
