Patents Assigned to Psion-Computers PLC
  • Patent number: 6870730
Abstract: A computer with a touch sensitive or pen sensitive display is disclosed in which the position of the fully opened display has been designed in order that the torque typically applied to the top most pen or touch sensitive part of the display, in relation to a rotational axis about which the computer would rotate if it were to tip backwards, is less than that needed to cause the computer to tip backwards about that rotational axis. The computer is therefore stable even when the display is being touched by pen or finger, unlike conventional clam shell designs.

  • Patent number: 5777281
Abstract: A key assembly comprising a base; a manually operable key secured to, and mounted above the base by, a resilient key mat having an upstanding wall. The key is moveable against the resilience of the upstanding wall towards the base. A guide assembly extends between the base and the key to guide movement of the keys. A membrane is supported on the base and carries a pair of electrically insulated first contacts, each first contact of the pair being connected to a respective electrical track supported on the membrane and extending to a connection location. A second contact is provided on the underside of the key or the key mat and has a size and position such that movement of the key towards the base causes the second contact to engage both first contacts and thereby electrically connect the first contacts.

  • Patent number: 5742475
Abstract: A casing for computer equipment, the casing comprising first and second leaves for mounting the computer equipment, the leaves being hinged together so as to be movable between a folded position in which the first leaf overlies the second, and an open position; and a base to which the leaves are movably secured so as to allow the second leaf to slide relative to the base. In the open position of the leaves part of the base extends under the first leaf so as to provide a support to resist tipping movement when pressure is applied to the first leaf.
