  • Patent number: 7992723
Abstract: A filter includes filter media and a housing surrounding the media. The housing has an outlet and is sealed such that all fluid flow out of the outlet must first enter the cartridge and pass through the media. The housing has multiple inlet flow paths configured so that fluid impinging on the housing is diffused as it enters the cartridge and is prevented from flowing directly towards the filter media.

  • Publication number: 20070023333
Abstract: An indicator device utilizes a pair of magnets to provide a missing-element indication. The indicator may be installed within a filter assembly such that, when a filter element is present, it urges a piston disposed towards the top of the indicator and one of the magnets to slide axially inwards through the indicator's housing and attract the second magnet. The latter then causes a button disposed at the bottom of the indicator to move axially inwards, such that no missing-element indication is provided. When the filter element is removed or is missing, the piston moves axially outwardly, thereby either reducing the force of attraction, or increasing the repulsive force, between the two magnets and causing the button to pop out through the indicator's bottom end and provide visual indication of a missing-element condition. The indication may also be provided as a remote electrical signal, which may be transmitted wirelessly.

  • Publication number: 20050228609
Abstract: A sensor component that may be used in conjunction with a filter module may include a plurality of sensor packages. The latter, in turn, may incorporate one or more micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS) sensors to measure various characteristics of fluid flow and filtration. A single sensor component may be adapted to measure the pressure, temperature, flow rate, differential pressure, conductivity, viscosity, pH level, etc. of the fluid at an upstream and a downstream location. Sensor measurements may be obtained continuously in order to monitor and indicate fluid conditions, including the use of a warning mechanism to indicate an out-of-range condition when the measurements fall outside of pre-set limits. Depending on the application and the fluid being filtered, data, including measurement data, may be transmitted through electrical connections or wirelessly. In wireless configurations, a sleep-mode may be included to maximize the life of local power supplies.

  • Publication number: 20050211609
Abstract: A filter module assembly utilizes a priority valve installed in a manifold to allow for continuous filtration of hydraulic fluid up to a predetermined flow value and diverts occasional high flow to a secondary circuit. This arrangement provides both a low pressure drop at a high flow condition and structural integrity (1,000,000 impulse cycles from 0 to 6000 psi) while at the same time reducing the weight by as much as 50% from a conventional design approach.

  • Patent number: 6901812
Abstract: An ultrasonic sensor having a pair of ultrasound transducers adapted to be inserted in and being able to perform at a single site of introduction into a duct. The ultrasonic sensor measures a forward ultrasonic path transit time and a second reverse ultrasonic path transit time of ultrasound signals propagating in a fluid. The arrangement being such that a comparison of the signal associated with ultrasound travel in one direction with that of the signal associated with ultrasound travel in the opposite direction enables the flow rate of the fluid in the duct to be determined. The ultrasonic sensor may utilize a reflecting surface on the duct and a reflective surface of an ultrasonic sensor end cap to provide forward and reverse ultrasonic W-shaped paths. In addition, the ultrasonic sensor may also be used to measure the temperature, viscosity, and cavitation effects of a fluid.

  • Patent number: 6880405
Abstract: A differential pressure indicator has a housing with at least two ports in the housing. One port receives a first pressure, and the second port receives a second pressure. A pressure resistive device is placed between the first port and the second port. The pressure resistive device changes its position when the first pressure exceeds the second pressure by a predetermined amount. A magnet is coupled to the pressure resistive device. A digital displacement sensor senses the position of the magnet. The digital displacement sensor is in communication with an electronic indicator. The electronic indicator activates when the first pressure exceeds the second pressure by a predetermined amount.
