  • Patent number: 6270043
Abstract: A device for mounting a structure to the roof of a building, the device comprising a base plate removably secured to the building roof, the base plate having an upper planar surface and a lower planar surface; a standoff comprising an elongated housing which extends outwardly away from said roof and presents a bottom planar surface being removably secured to the roof, and a top planar surface parallel to and remote from the bottom planar surface; and a structure presenting a planar mounting surface extending radially from the structure, wherein the mounting surface being parallel to and spaced from the top planar surface and further being removably secured to the top planar surface; wherein the mounting surface and the top planar surface are adapted to receive a first locking device for removably securing the mounting surface to the top planar surface; and wherein the roof, the base plate, and the bottom planar surface are adapted to receive a second locking device.

  • Patent number: 5720141
Abstract: A structure for encapsulating an existing building includes an underpinning system for mounting on the existing building. The underpinning system includes a perimeter frame assembly with side and end rafts, outrigger assemblies mounted on the side rails and scissor jack assemblies recounted on the end rails. A shell system is mounted on the perimeter frame assembly and includes side walls, end walls and a roof. Door assemblies are installed in the end walls. A method of encapsulating an existing building includes the steps of providing an underpinning system, fastening the underpinning system to the existing building, providing a shell system with side walls, end walls, a roof and an open bottom, and receiving the existing building through the shed system open bottom for placing the shell system in covering relation over the existing building.

  • Patent number: 5680731
Abstract: An apparatus for accommodating level placement of a portable building on a support surface includes a foundation leg movable relative to the building and adjustable from inside the building. The length of the foundation leg which extends below the building to the support surface is determined by selectively engaging a bracket in slots in the foundation leg. An adjusting plate is coupled to the bracket and a threaded member is coupled with the adjusting plate. When the bracket engages a slot, the threaded member may be manually adjusted to raise and lower the foundation leg. A portable building adapted for level placement on a support surface may include a plurality of foundation legs and a corresponding number of locking devices for raising and lowering the foundation legs relative to the floor of the building. Each locking device includes a bracket, an adjusting plate and a manually operable member coupled with the adjusting plate.
