Abstract: A method for manufacturing a sole assembly of an article of footwear includes injecting a first material into a first mold to forming a first component. A second material is injected into a second mold to form a second component in the second mold. The first component is formed from a first material and includes a first plurality of channel elements. The second component is formed from a second material and includes a second plurality of channel elements. Each of the first plurality of channel elements is aligned with a corresponding one of the second plurality of channel elements, and the first component is secured to the second component to form an initial sole assembly.

Abstract: A method for fastening a shoe is disclosed. The shoe has an upper part connected to a sole and a rotary closure that fastens the shoe using at least one tensioning element. The rotary closure has a rotatably arranged tensioning roller, and the tensioning roller is driven by an electric motor and a switching element. The switching element is connected to a controller, and includes touch sensitive sensors which form a surface that is accessible to the wearer. The switching element and the controller are configured to actuate the motor, and operation of fastening the shoe takes place by the controller detecting a first swipe signal over the touch sensitive sensors, and causing the fastening of the shoe at a first level of fastening force by the controller and the electric motor.

Abstract: A fastening system for an article of footwear includes an upper having inner and outer layers with a fastening mechanism disposed along the inner layer and a plurality of apertures defined along the outer layer. The fastening mechanism includes a fastening member rotatable in first and second directions and a plurality of fastening elements spaced from the fastening member and corresponding with respective apertures. The fastening elements are connected to the fastening member by a connecting element such that, when the fastening member is rotated in the first direction, the fastening elements are simultaneously rotated from a first position toward a second position. The fastening system is moveable between a loosened configuration, in which the fastening elements are in the first position and aligned within respective apertures, and a tightened configuration, in which the fastening elements are in the second position and offset with respect to respective apertures.

The compression knit areas of the finger stalls and the wrist collar can be configured to provide support to the fingers and wrist of the wearer, respectively, in a manner similar to athletic tape.
