Abstract: Environmentally conditioned furniture, such as a bed are disclosed herein. A representative bed includes a bed frame for supporting an air-permeable mattress or cushion, the bed frame comprising a shell frame having at least one air inlet with a total inlet flow-through area, and at least one air outlet, in fluid communication with the air inlet, and having a total outlet flow-through area. The bed frame is arranged for accommodating an air distribution unit in fluid communication with the air outlet, and in a top plan view, at most 30% of the inlet total flow-through area overlaps with the outlet total flow-through area.
Abstract: Upholstery support arrangements for conditioned furniture are disclosed herein. A representative arrangement, such as for a ventilated bed, comprises an upholstery support structure having a support platform that defines a support plane, for supporting an upholstery item, the upholstery support platform having a first array of apertures that allow a flow of air through the support platform; the upholstery supported on the support platform (e.g., a mattress) having a bottom face facing the support platform and including a second array of apertures positioned to allow the flow of air through the bottom face into the upholstery; wherein a periodicity of the first array of apertures and a periodicity of the second array of apertures are matched to one another.

Abstract: A kit for extermination of pest animals in furniture and a method for using the kit are disclosed. A sheet is provided over upholstered furniture. The sheet may be provided with ballast at the edges for keeping the sheet more or less fixed. Heated air is forced underneath the sheet. The furniture is preferably provided with an air treatment module for forcing air through the upholstery like a mattress. This allows the heated air provided by the forced air supply to be provided to the upholstery via the inside, highly increasing efficiency of heat treatment of the furniture. A way of controlling temperature of air provided by the forced air supply is disclosed, as well as a way of controlling temperature of air actually within the spaced defined by the positioned sheet. The latter allows for improved control of maintaining a temperature at which for example bed bugs are killed.
