Abstract: A preset knob is provided that is not subject to rotation during normal operation of a drag lever used in association with fishing reels having adjustable drag settings. In order to rotate the preset knob in order to adjust its drag settings, it first must be pulled outwardly. As such, when the reel is in use, the preset knob cannot be accidently adjusted by an angler operating the drag lever.

Abstract: A tip-up cover is provided that may be used during ice fishing. The tip-up cover may be set over a hole made in the ice during ice fishing to protect the hole from wind and snow. The tip-up cover may include a transparent lid such that a user can view the interior of the tip-up cover without opening the cover. Also, the lid allows a user to adjust a spool within the tip-up cover without requiring the user to completely remove the cover from the ice hole. Finally, the tip-up cover includes a flag and a bite-indicator light that provide visual cues to the user when a fish is caught on the line attached to the spool.

Abstract: A motor driven fishing reel is provided. The motor driven fishing reel can include a detachable battery pack configured to supply power to a motorized drive assembly within the motor driven fishing reel. The battery pack can include a power output adaptor that can be engaged with a power input adaptor on the motor driven fishing reel. Alternatively, the power input adaptor can accept power from an external source. The battery pack can include one or more protrusions to engage with one or more receiving channels on the motor driven fishing reel such that the battery pack can easily be attached and detached from the motor driven fishing reel.

Abstract: A fishing reel includes a lipped seal in the axial direction of the pinion of the fishing reel. An axial seal, rather than radial seal, provides a contact seal that relies less on manufacturing consistencies of the parts within the fishing reel.

Abstract: The present invention is a splitting line guide that includes two guide mechanisms that are connected to one another via a driver unit that is connected to a worm shaft. In a first casting position, when a free spool clutch is depressed, the driver unit rotates forwardly. The two guide mechanisms are in turn disconnected from the driver unit. This decreases resistance on the line during casting to increase casting distance and reduce the risk of backlash during casting. When a user is ready to return the line guide to its position where the line guide mechanisms are near each other to help with spooling line, he or she may simply begin cranking a reel. This causes the driver unit to rotate rearwardly. The driver unit may then re-engage the guide mechanisms such that they are arranged closely to one another so that line can evenly be distributed on the spool without any large build up of line in any one spot on the spool.

Abstract: The magnetic casting brake hereof provides little magnetic brake force at the start of a cast by providing magnets on a curved cam able to rotate with the spool and move closer to the spool to achieve sufficient brake force to avoid a backlash. When the cast is finished, and one begins to retrieve the bait, the magnets rotate back to a minimum position so that retrieval will be lighter, and the feel of the lure will be increased. The casting brake will also include an off position to provide free spool.

Abstract: A removable extension for a line release button of a spincast fishing reel includes an attachment end having one or more attachment structures on one side thereof, the attachment structures configured for removable attachment of the attachment end to the line release button; an engagement end configured for application of a force from a user's thumb; and a transition section connecting the attachment end with the engagement end.

Abstract: A fishing tackle box having removable tray. The box is designed to prevent the contents of the removable tray from becoming dislodged and mixed together if the box is dropped or tipped over while it is closed. In one embodiment, the tackle box comprises a base portion, a lid portion pivotally connected to the base portion, and a removable tray that includes a plurality of open compartments suitable for storing fishing items. A removable cover member rests on top of the removable tray, thereby covering each of the compartments and preventing their contents from becoming dislodged.

Abstract: A grip assembly configured for fixing a reel to a fishing rod includes a front seat grip non-movably fixable to a fishing rod, a gear rack on the front seat grip, a sliding grip movably fixable to the fishing rod and configured to slide in an axial direction of the fishing rod so as to selectively engage the front seat grip, a lever pivotally connected to the sliding grip, and at least one tooth provided on the lever. When the lever is actuated from an open position to a locked position, the at least one tooth engages the gear rack and the lever pulls the sliding grip toward the front seat grip on the fishing rod.
