    Abstract: A system and method for separating and removing contaminants from a fluid stream comprised of carrier fluid and contaminants. The system and method involves circulating the fluid stream through a coiled pipe or tube, creating a phase separation between the carrier fluid and contaminants, depositing the carrier fluid and contaminants into an expansion vessel proximate the outlet of the coil, and separating the larger density contaminant particles from the smaller density carrier fluid.
