Abstract: The invention relates to a filter plate for a particulate filter which serves to separate particulates out of an exhaust gas flow of an internal combustion engine. A filter plate for a particulate filter which serves to separate particulates out of an exhaust gas flow of an internal combustion engine is proposed, which filter plate is composed of a substrate material, which is permeable to gas and is coated with a sintered metal powder, and has a surface region which extends substantially in a plane. It is provided according to the invention that the surface region (2) is provided with alternating linear depressions (3) and elevations (4), with a section (2a) of the planar surface region (2) remaining at least between two successive depressions (3) or elevations (4). Abstract: A particulate filter for separating particulates out of an exhaust gas flow of an internal combustion engine has a filter body with an inflow region and an outflow region. The filter body is formed by alternately arranged inflow ducts that are open toward the inflow region and are closed toward the outflow region, and outflow ducts that are open toward the outflow region and closed toward the inflow region. The filter body has a plurality of substantially planar filter plates arranged parallel to one another. Each of the inflow ducts and the outflow ducts is formed by adjacent filter plates, and is arranged in a housing. The inflow ducts are open at at least one of their lateral regions in such a way that the inflow region extends over at least two sides of the filter body. At least one sealing element is provided for sealing off the filter body in the outflow region relative to the housing.

  • Publication number: 20080168754
Abstract: The invention relates to an exhaust particulate filter with a filter body (4), comprising a number of filter pockets (3) arranged one behind the other and formed by filter plates (1), the filter plates (1) having a planar cutout opening (2). According to the invention, it is provided that the peripheral contour (8) of the planar cutout opening (2) comprises points which are located at different distances from the centroid (S) of the area of the cutout opening (2). For an exhaust particulate filter according to the invention, it is further provided that the centroid (S) of its at least one area of the cutout opening (2) is arranged at a distance from the central longitudinal axis (7) of the filter body (4) on the filter plate (1) or that the filter body (4) has filter plates (1) with different cutout openings (2). The exhaust particulate filter is suitable in particular for an application in motor vehicles with a diesel engine.

  • Publication number: 20070151217
Abstract: The invention relates to an exhaust gas particulate filter made of sintered metal for removing particulates contained in the exhaust gas stream of an internal combustion engine, particularly of a diesel internal combustion engine. The exhaust gas particulate filter is made of a filter material having at least one metal support (1), which has openings (O). The openings (O) are bounded by segments (S), which are tilted in respect to the outer surface planes of the support (1). The openings (O) are filled with sinter metal powder The support (1) consists of an expanded metal, and the sections delimitating the openings (O) of the support (1) are joined to one anther with a material bond forming nodes (K). The sintered metal powder filling of the openings (O) is arranged in a substantially flush manner with the outside surfaces of the support (1).

  • Patent number: 6935103
Abstract: A device for exhaust-gas purification utilizes reduction of nitrogen oxides which are present in the exhaust gas from internal combustion engines by way of gaseous ammonia with an SCR catalytic converter. The functions of the device are monitored with regard to their line paths with connections, valves and sensors by referring to these elements themselves using suitable control circuitry via the evaluation and control unit.

  • Patent number: 6923941
Abstract: A filter assembly for an exhaust gas purification system of an internal combustion engine. The filter assembly, has porous filter plate elements, connected with each other on their outer as well as on their inner peripheries, forming in pairs as filter pockets. Catalytic agents such as ammonia are applied to the filter pockets on the outer and/or inner sides to oxidize carbon black contained in the combustion gas. In particular, this filter assembly is compact and can be used for diesel engines of motor vehicles.

  • Patent number: 6865884
Abstract: In an operating method for internal combustion engines which operate with exhaust-gas aftertreatment systems, in particular diesel internal combustion engines, a plurality of operating programs are used. The first of these programs, as an initial stage, works on the basis of automatic regeneration. The second of these programs provides measures which assist regeneration, for example by increasing the exhaust-gas temperature, in the event of conditions which are unfavourable for regeneration, for example on account of unfavourable driving cycles. The third of these programs has the purpose of reactivating the damaged components in the event of non-irreversible damage to the components of the exhaust-gas system.
