Patent number: 6068763Abstract: An improved, reduced waste oil filter has a concave housing having a first end, a fluid inlet port and a fluid outlet port. A concave cover is removably and sealably attached to a second end of the housing providing a closed area with which the inlet and outlet ports communicate. An elongated cylindrical disposable oil filter element is supported within the closed area. The filter element has a perforated center tube, a first end of which detachably communicates with the fluid outlet port, the other end of the center tube being closed. The center tube has a filter media there around so that fluid flow into the closed area through the inlet port flows through the filter media and into the center tube to pass out through the outlet port. The filter element has a length greater than the internal depth of the cover so that when the cover is removed from the housing a portion of the length of the filter element extends exteriorly of the cover to facilitate easy removal and replacement.Type: GrantFiled: September 12, 1997Date of Patent: May 30, 2000Assignee: Purolator Products CompanyInventor: Henry B. Patent number: 6022393Abstract: A filter assembly is formed of an impervious elongated tubular housing and an elongated filter member positioned within the housing with its opposed longitudinal edges sealed to the housing internal tubular surface. A first barrier is interposed between the filter member first surface and the housing internal tubular surface adjacent the housing inlet end and a second barrier is interposed between the filter member second surface and the housing internal tubular surface adjacent the housing outlet end. Air flowing into the housing inlet end passes through the filter member before exiting at the outlet end.Type: GrantFiled: January 28, 1998Date of Patent: February 8, 2000Assignee: Purolator Products CompanyInventor: Clifford D. Patent number: 5967111Abstract: The present invention relates to an arrangement in an oil filter with integral oil cooler with a filter material (7) in the form of a tubular casing, which is enclosed in a housing (1). The latter is defined by a cylindrical wall (4) and two ends (5, 6), one (5) of which can be opened for changing the filter material (7). Two essentially concentric annular circulation chambers (8, 9) are arranged in front of the cylindrical wall. Of these the one that connects with the inside of the housing (12) is intended to accommodate the flow of oil and the other which has an inlet opening (10) and an outlet opening (11) is intended to accommodate the flow of coolant. The coolant circulation chamber (8), which is the outer of the two circulation chambers, is divided by a partition wall (25) into two essentially equal sub-chambers (8a, 8b) into each of which an opening (10, 11) respectively opens.Type: GrantFiled: March 24, 1998Date of Patent: October 19, 1999Assignee: Purolator Products CompanyInventor: Erik Hedman

Patent number: 5211091Abstract: An apparatus for cutting pleated paper, and especially for filtration media for the automotive industry. Two tooth roller chains in parallel are supported above a support plate upon which pleated paper is placed. There is an opening in the plate through which the teeth of two sprockets supported beneath the plate may extend to mesh with the teeth of the corresponding roller chain. The teeth on both the chain and the sprocket are the same height as the pleated paper and when driven by an electric motor pulls the paper through the device separating each pleat. One pleat at a time is pushed through a slit in the table top at which point the pleat knuckle is sheared off by pneumatic operated cutter blade. A fiberoptics infrared scanner is used to monitor the amount of pleated material available. The number of pleats cut on any one run is controlled.Type: GrantFiled: July 2, 1992Date of Patent: May 18, 1993Assignee: Purolator Products CompanyInventor: Everett A. Cole

Patent number: 5073095Abstract: An electromagnetic reciprocating piston fluid pump having a housing defining a piston guide, an inlet port, and an outlet port, and a piston disposed in the piston guide. A blocking oscillator periodically energizes a solenoid coil to reciprocate the piston in the piston guide and valves provide for unidirectional fluid flow through the pump. A soft rubber bumper and a semi-rigid plastic washer are disposed at the output end of the piston guide to noiselessly terminate the displacement of the piston at the end of its pumping stroke.Type: GrantFiled: April 10, 1990Date of Patent: December 17, 1991Assignee: Purolator Product CompanyInventor: James A.
