    Abstract: Herbicide-fertilizer combination granular products are described comprising singular, or blended, basic fertilizer granular materials and impregnated with or coated thereon a herbicidal material for controlling broadleaf weeds postemergence. The weed and feed fertilizer products uniquely are characterized by the size, weight and physical property of the fertilizers and any filler particles contained in the weed and feed fertilizer blend product in that the particle size is substantially in the micro-sized range of 500 to 1500 microns; the particle weight generally is less than one-tenth that of customary regular-sized weed and feed particles; and there is a greater cohesion of the particle to the weed foliage. These micro-sized particles exhibit a significantly higher incidence of contact with and greater adhesion to the foliage of weeds thus providing superior weed control.

    Abstract: A machine system and process for producing attrition resistant, controlled release fertilizer is described. In the process, a prewet solution is used to initially coat the plant nutrient to be coated followed by the separate application of the individual components used in the coating. The machine system provides an improved means for uniformly applying a single layer or multiple layers of polymer coatings to the plant nutrient.

    Abstract: Sulfur coated plant fertilizer granules, each such granule including a core granule of fertilizer having a crystalline component, a bonding layer having a mixture of the fertilizer granule crystalline component and crystalline sulfur, coating the granule, the bonding layer crystalline fertilizer component being integral with the fertilizer granule crystalline component at the bonding layer-granule interface, and an outer layer of sulfur having crystallized sulfur, the outer layer sulfur being integral with the bonding layer sulfur at the bonding layer-outer layer interface, the crystalline fertilizer component of the bonding layer and the sulfur of the bonding layer being interwoven, enabling the sulfur outer layer to be tightly bound to the fertilizer granule.
