Patent number: 7043974Abstract: An accelerated weathering apparatus includes a test chamber (30), a specimen supporting means (34), a light source (60) powered by a power source controlled by a ballast, at least one chamber air temperature sensor (26), a black panel temperature sensor (36), and a multiple blower system and control means (52). A first blower (12) draws and circulates outside or fresh air and as second blower (46) optionally draws recirculated air into an air mixing duct. The speeds of the fresh air and recirculated air are independently regulated and controlled by a blower controller based on the chamber air temperature and black panel temperature, respectively. In addition, a humidifier (18) and humidity controller (20) regulates humidity within the system as required.Type: GrantFiled: April 8, 2005Date of Patent: May 16, 2006Assignee: Q-Panel Lab Products CorporationInventors: Douglas M. Grossman, Gregory R. Fedor, William R. Wurst, Danny J. Fayak

Patent number: 6679095Abstract: A gravelometer (20) includes a base unit (30) comprising compressed air receiver tank (40) having wheels (42) and feet (44). Main frame (46) connects tank (40) to a media gun frame or mount (50) and includes a bore (52) for releasably receiving and supporting a media gun (54) having a mounting flange (70) so that media inlet (56) is upwardly oriented and gun barrel or media outlet (57) extends through gun mount (50). Media inlet (56) interconnects via elongated con-duit (58) to a media supply system (60) which includes media supply hopper (62) and vibratory feeder assembly (64). A control system (80) having operator control panel (82) controls operations. A modular target box or chamber (90) is aided in being releasably connected to base unit (30) by locator pins (102). Chamber (90) includes media inlet (92), media outlet (94), which connects to spent media reclaim chamber (100), and specimen window (96) having a target holding toggle clamp (98).Type: GrantFiled: July 13, 2000Date of Patent: January 20, 2004Assignee: Q-Panel Lab Products CorporationInventors: Douglas M. Patent number: 6525493Abstract: A high-instantaneous, low-average current ballast is used in an accelerated weathering apparatus. The ballast includes a DC voltage generator or front end, to generate a high DC voltage, which produces a charging current to charge an arc capacitor. The energy on the arc capacitor is selectively released into a xenon lamp as short, high-current pulses. A starting transformer acts to strike an arc in the lamp. A switch is connected between the capacitor and the lamp, and is used to control generation of current pulses developed for the xenon lamp. A timer is implemented to control operation of the transformer and switch to selectively generate the current pulses for the xenon lamp.Type: GrantFiled: July 2, 2001Date of Patent: February 25, 2003Assignee: Q-Panel Lab ProductsInventors: Douglas M. Grossman, Kenneth A. Roll, Gregory Fedor
