  • Patent number: 8955059
Abstract: An authentication system, an authentication method, and a network storage appliance are provided. The authentication system includes a client electronic device, the network storage appliance having an authentication proxy, and a directory server having an authentication service module and an account database. The client electronic device selects a data access service and transmits an encrypted data and a user data to the network storage appliance. The authentication proxy packs the encrypted data and the user data into an authentication login information and transmits the authentication login information to the directory server. The authentication service module receives the authentication login information and performs decryption and comparison on the authentication login information according to a corresponding authentication protocol and a corresponding account information in the account database, so as to determine whether the authentication is successful.

  • Publication number: 20130104215
Abstract: A system and a method for managing network devices are provided. The method includes the following steps. A central server is connected to a plurality of authenticated network devices via a network interface. The MAC (Media Access Control) address and the corresponding Internet Protocol (IP) address are stored in a database of the central server. The central server uses the MAC address to identify each authenticated network device. The central server periodically detects whether the IP address of each authenticated network device is changed. If the IP address of one or more of the authenticated network devices is changed, the central server updates the IP address corresponding to the MAC address stored in the database according to the changed IP address.

  • Publication number: 20130060998
Abstract: A control system of a disk array including multiple data storage disks is provided. The control system includes a front-end circuit, a central processing unit and a back-end circuit. The front-end circuit is for receiving multiple packets corresponding to a first protocol from a network. The central processing unit has multiple cores. One of the cores is configured as a first dedicated core to interpret the packets corresponding to the first protocol into multiple first commands. The other non-dedicated cores are for processing the first commands and outputting multiple first access instructions. The back-end circuit is for translating the first access instructions to access the data storage disks.

  • Publication number: 20120109891
Abstract: A data synchronization system includes a receiver and a transmitter. The receiver includes a remote storage circuit, first remote controller, and second remote controller. The transmitter includes a local storage circuit and a local controller. In response to local volume information corresponding to the local storage circuit, the controller establishes a main communication link and a redundant communication link respectively connected to the first remote and the second remote controllers. When the first remote controller operates normally, the data synchronization takes place between the receiver and the transmitter via the main communication link. When the first remote controller operates abnormally, the second remote controller takes the operation of the first remote controller for controlling the receiver, so that the data synchronization takes place between the receiver and the transmitter via the redundant communication link.

  • Publication number: 20120060206
Abstract: A role-based access control method for a storage subsystem. The storage subsystem includes at least a first iSCSI target node and at least a first virtual storage device attached to the first iSCSI target node. The method includes: assigning a first role so that the first role has an authority to access the first iSCSI target node; assigning a first subject having the first role; and in login, authenticating a name and a password of the first subject to verify that whether the first subject is allowed to access the first iSCSI target node.
