Abstract: Birdcage or birdcage-derived resonator for NMR experiments irradiation and detection having two electrically conducting, circular rings at opposing axial ends, joined and fastened with a number of mutually isolated parallel electrically conducting rods distributed over the circumference. The axially outer surfaces are spaced axially by a birdcage height, and either between each of the rods and the respective ring at least one capacitor is provided or in each of the rings at least one capacitor is provided in each of the ring segments between adjacent conducting rods. The capacitors are axial capacitor bars extending between the rings and beyond their outer surfaces forming at both axial sides salient portions, and the length of the salient portions at each side is at least 25% of the birdcage height.
Abstract: A compound having (A) 40-99.99 weight percent of at least one thermoplastic or thermoset polymer material selected as a halogenated or perhalogenated polymer; (B) 0.01-60 weight percent of at least one inorganic particulate diamagnetic or paramagnetic material; and (C) 0-39.99 weight percent of at least one additive different from (B). The compound is proposed as a construction material in the detection-relevant spatial area of a nuclear magnetic resonance device with a static magnetic field of at least 1 Tesla, and furthermore corresponding constructional elements, in particular sample holders, are proposed as well as method of manufacturing such constructional elements and uses of such constructional elements.
