Publication number: 20110292915Abstract: Systems, methods and apparatuses are provided that facilitate selecting resources, such as time slots, subframes, etc., for performing bandwidth switching related to activating and/or deactivating one or more carriers. A data portion of one or more subframes can be selected for performing bandwidth switching. In addition, a device can determine whether one or more downlink grants are received in the one or more subframes, and can avoid selecting such subframes. The device can alternatively perform the bandwidth switching and request retransmission of the data portion. Additionally or alternatively, the device can determine a type of the one or more subframes and/or signals transmitted in the one or more subframes to determine whether to perform bandwidth switching in the subframes. The bandwidth switching can include changing a sampling rate, reconfiguring frequency filters, modifying a local oscillator, etc.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 23, 2010Publication date: December 1, 2011Applicant: QUALCOMM INCORPORATEDInventors: Rajat Prakash, Jelena M. Patent number: 8068530Abstract: Each base station transmits a TDM pilot 1 having multiple instances of a pilot-1 sequence generated with a PN1 sequence and a TDM pilot 2 having at least one instance of a pilot-2 sequence generated with a PN2 sequence. Each base station is assigned a specific PN2 sequence that uniquely identifies that base station. A terminal uses TDM pilot 1 to detect for the presence of a signal and uses TDM pilot 2 to identify base stations and obtain accurate timing. For signal detection, the terminal performs delayed correlation on received samples and determines whether a signal is present. If a signal is detected, the terminal performs direct correlation on the received samples with PN1 sequences for K1 different time offsets and identifies K2 strongest TDM pilot 1 instances. For time synchronization, the terminal performs direct correlation on the received samples with PN2 sequences to detect for TDM pilot 2.Type: GrantFiled: December 22, 2004Date of Patent: November 29, 2011Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Aamod Khandekar, Avneesh Agrawal

Patent number: 8068859Abstract: A novel and improved method and system for paging a cellular telephone or other wireless terminal using two paging channels that reduces standby mode power consumption described. In one embodiment of the invention, a minimally encoded quick paging channel is established over which short, quick page messages are transmitted during one of a set of quick paging slots. The quick page message indicates that a communications request has been received, and that the receiving communication terminals should process a highly encoded full paging channel over which more detailed, full page messages are transmitted during the next full paging slot. A terminal monitors full paging channel only after a quick page message has been received on the quick paging channel.Type: GrantFiled: December 5, 2007Date of Patent: November 29, 2011Assignee: Qualcomm IncorporatedInventors: Brian K. Patent number: 8068056Abstract: Techniques for supporting periodic and other location services with Secure User Plane Location (SUPL) and other location architectures are described. The techniques can provide position estimates for a SUPL enabled terminal (SET) to a SUPL agent periodically and/or based on trigger events. A Home SUPL Location Platform (H-SLP) receives from the SUPL agent a request for position estimates for the SET. The H-SLP starts a SUPL location session with the SET. For each of at least one reporting event during the location session, the H-SLP obtains a position estimate for the SET and sends the position estimate to the SUPL agent. The position estimate may be derived by the SET and sent to the H-SLP. Alternatively, the position estimate may be derived by the H-SLP based on measurements from the SET.Type: GrantFiled: August 24, 2006Date of Patent: November 29, 2011Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Andreas Wachter, Stephen Edge, Kirk Burroughs
