  • Patent number: 9674755
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for managing a handover of a UE based on consideration of both the uplink and the downlink channel conditions. A handover of a user equipment from a serving base station to a target base station may be held over, prevented or inhibited even if the downlink channel measurement events are triggered and reported based on consideration of the uplink and the downlink metrics. Such determination may also be based on weight factors associated with the uplink and the downlink metrics. The weight factors may communicate to the base station a relative value of the uplink and the downlink transmission for a user equipment. In other examples, a handover of the user equipment may be either initiated or held over based on a calculation of a loading delta that indicates an overall gain or loss that may be realized between the serving base station and the target base station.

  • Patent number: 9674700
Abstract: One feature pertains to biometric authentication of a user between devices. In one aspect, an ad hoc personal wireless network may include a primary device and one or more secondary devices using grouping policies such proximity policies and other permissions. The primary device shares a biometric authentication value of a user with the one or more secondary devices. Each secondary device may then perform additional authentication of the same user using a relatively low reliability biometric sensor such as a digital camera for facial recognition, a microphone for voice recognition or an accelerometer for gesture recognition. The secondary authentication results may be combined with the biometric authentication score/level from the primary device to form a final authentication score/level of the secondary device, which is used to authenticate the user of the secondary device for one or more transactions such as consumer purchases, secure content access, or secure control.

  • Patent number: 9674786
Abstract: Systems, methodologies, and devices are described that can facilitate reducing power consumption associated with mobile devices. A mobile device can utilize a sleep mode controller that can facilitate selecting and/or switching to a desired sleep mode based in part on predefined sleep mode criteria. The sleep modes can include a non-sleep mode, light sleep mode, and/or deep sleep mode. The mobile device can employ an analyzer to evaluate information related to explicit signals, implicit signals, and/or the current sleep mode to determine whether a condition is met based in part on the predefined sleep mode criteria such that a transition to a different sleep mode is to be performed. If such a condition is met, the sleep mode controller can facilitate transitioning from the current sleep mode to a different sleep mode to facilitate reducing power consumption by the mobile device.
