Abstract: When beamforming (e.g., via a millimeter wave system (mmW)) is used for wireless communication, a base station may transmit beams that are directed to certain directions. Due to the directional nature of the beams in the mmW system, an approach to determine a beam that provides a desirable gain is studied. The apparatus may be a user equipment (UE). The apparatus receives, from a base station, a plurality of signals through a plurality of beams of the base station, each of the plurality of beams corresponding to a respective antenna port of a plurality of antenna ports of the base station, where the plurality of signals include a plurality of beam reference signals, a plurality of beam refinement reference signals, a plurality of channel state information reference signals (CSI-RSs), or a combination thereof. The apparatus performs channel estimation for each beam of the plurality of beams from the plurality of antenna ports based on the plurality of signals.

  • Patent number: 11190975
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described that provide for generation of an encoded transport block (TB) that includes a number of systematic code blocks (CBs) and a number of parity CBs. The systematic CBs may be transmitted to a receiver, and the receiver may attempt to decode the systematic CBs. In some cases, one or more parity CBs may be transmitted with the systematic CBs, and the systematic CBs may be successfully decoded even in the event that one or more of the systematic CBs are not successfully received. In some cases, a receiver may provide feedback that requests that additional CBs be transmitted to decode the systematic CBs that were received, and it is not necessary to retransmit the missing systematic CBs. In some cases, a quantized value of a number of additional CBs needed to decode the TB may be transmitted.

  • Patent number: 11191068
Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for per transmission configuration channel sensing. A method for wireless communication by a user equipment (UE) generally includes monitoring a plurality of dummy physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) transmissions from at least one base station (BS). The dummy PDCCH transmissions use a different transmission configuration. The UE sends acknowledgment feedback for the plurality of dummy PDCCH transmission. The ACK feedback for the dummy PDCCH transmissions may be multiplexed with ACK feedback to the at least one BS for physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) transmissions. A UE may receive a configuration reserving one or more bits in a UE codebook for providing the ACK feedback. Each reserved bit may be for control resource sets associated with a transmission configuration. The UE monitors PDDCH transmissions using different transmission configurations and uses the reserved bits to transmit ACK feedback for the PDCCH transmissions.

  • Patent number: 11191078
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described to provide priority traffic grant-less access to pre-defined communication resources that are semi-persistently scheduled. A set of semi-persistent communication resources may be reserved for use by priority traffic. If the semi-persistent resources are not used for priority traffic, the semi-persistent resources may be scheduled for use by other types of traffic. As priority traffic is identified, the priority traffic may be transmitted using the semi-persistent resource without having those communication resources granted by a scheduling entity. Such grant-less access to the semi-persistent resources may result in collisions between the scheduled traffic and the priority traffic.

  • Patent number: 11190383
Abstract: This disclosure provides methods, devices and systems for reducing PAPR in wireless communications. Some implementations more specifically relate to suppressing the amplitudes of a data signal that exceed a threshold amplitude level. In some implementations, a transmitting device may detect one or more peaks associated with a data signal to be transmitted to a receiving device. A peak may be any sample of a data signal having an amplitude that exceeds a threshold amplitude level. The transmitting device generates peak suppression information indicating the amplitude, a phase and a position of each of the samples associated with the detected peaks. The transmitting device adjusts the data signal by reducing the amplitudes associated with the detected peaks and transmits the adjusted data signal, with the peak suppression information, to the receiving device. In some implementations, the transmitting device may compress the peak suppression information to reduce the overhead of the transmission.

  • Patent number: 11191092
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive a grant scheduling a first higher priority channel that has a higher priority than each channel of multiple lower priority channels scheduled for the UE. The UE may drop a first lower priority channel of the multiple lower priority channels that at least partially overlaps in time with the first higher priority channel based on determining that the grant is received prior to a multiplexing deadline for the multiple lower priority channels. The UE may then transmit or receive a first transmission using the first higher priority channel and a second transmission using a second lower priority channel of the multiple lower priority channels based on the dropping.

  • Patent number: 11187719
Abstract: Techniques provided herein are directed toward addressing these and other issues by providing robust means for initializing an accelerometer that can take place even while a vehicle is in motion. Specifically, linear acceleration and velocity data can be estimated from wheel speeds, and angular velocity can be estimated with a gyroscope. The vehicle's acceleration can then be computed from these estimates, and subtracted from a total acceleration measured by the accelerometer to determine gravitational acceleration, which can then be accounted for in subsequent measurements taken by the accelerometer. A vehicle velocity may also be determined based on the vehicle's estimated angular velocity and linear velocity. Embodiments may also employ techniques for translating measurements taken in one coordinate frame to another coordinate frame for estimate determination and/or outlier compensation.

  • Patent number: 11191083
Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for interference randomization for multiple transmission configuration indicator (multi-TCI) state communications with disjoint resource sets for certain systems, such a new radio (NR). A method for wireless communication by a user equipment (UE) is provided. The method generally includes determining a disjoint resource split of a set of resource blocks (RBs) for a multi-TCI state transmission, the determination based on a pseudo-random sequence. The UE decodes the multi-TCI state transmission based on the determination. A base station (BS) also determines the disjoint resource split based on the pseudo-random sequence and transmit the multi-TCI state transmission to a UE on a subset of the RBs based on the determination.

  • Patent number: 11191054
Abstract: An entity, such as a mobile device or base station, measures downlink position referencing signals (PRS) occasions or uplink position sounding referencing signal occasions for supporting estimating the position of the mobile device. The entity, for example, performs a plurality of positioning measurements from a plurality of consecutive PRS occasions received in a bundle from one or more base stations or from a mobile device. Each PRS occasion may include one or more slots and may be narrowband or non-narrowband. The bundled, e.g., consecutive, PRS occasions may be transmitted with a periodicity that is sufficient to maintain a desired throughput. Moreover, with the use of bundled PRS occasions, power consumption of the mobile device, as well as effects of clock drift and mobile device movement, may be minimized.
