Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) techniques for enhanced machine type communication (eMTC). In one aspect, a method is provided which may be performed by a wireless device such as a user equipment (UE) for determining a HARQ ID. The method generally includes determining a HARQ ID based, at least in part, on a coverage enhancement (CE) level, and performing a HARQ process timeline based, at least in part, on the determined HARQ ID. Another method is provided for determining a subframe to transmit feedback. The method generally includes determining at least one subframe to transmit a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) to acknowledge one or more downlink transmissions based, at least in part, on availability of uplink subframes following one or more downlink subframes carrying the downlink transmissions to be acknowledged and transmitting the PUCCH in the determined at least one subframe.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) offloading through radio access network rules. In one embodiment of a method of wireless communication, a mobile device may determine that Radio Access Network (RAN) assistance information is unavailable, the RAN assistance information including a first set of thresholds for switching a Packet Data Network (PDN) connection of the mobile device from a WLAN to a Wireless Wide Area Network (WWAN). The mobile device may further access a second set of thresholds based at least in part on the determining, and the mobile device may determine to switch the PDN connection from the WLAN to the WWAN based at least in part on the second set of thresholds.

Abstract: Adaptive pilot signaling is disclosed in which resources allocated to pilot symbols are allowed to vary to more closely match channel conditions. User equipments (UEs) may request different pilot configurations depending on channel conditions. In one embodiment, a method includes receiving a first set of pilot symbols using a first number of resource elements during a first transmission time interval (TTI), and receiving a second set of pilot symbols using a second number of resource elements during a second TTI. In the embodiment, the first TTI and the second TTI include the same number of resource elements, and the first number of resource elements is different than the second number of resource elements.

Abstract: Method and apparatus for automatically reconfiguring a wireless communication network provides for receiving information from at least one node indicating a change in the network and automatically reconfiguring the network based on the received information. In another embodiment, a method for automatically reconfiguring a wireless communication network, including at least one node that includes wireless infrastructure resources, includes determining availability of a resource at a node operating in the network and automatically configuring the network based on the availability of the resource such that the network operates properly and/or efficiently.
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for determining pathloss. A transmitter may send a reference signal to receivers associated with broadcast transmissions. The receivers participating in the broadcast transmissions that receive the reference signal at a pathloss greater than a predetermined pathloss value may send a response to the reference signal. Receivers that receive the reference signal at a pathloss less than the predetermined pathloss value may not send a response. The pathloss may be determined based on whether a response is received. The transmitter may then transmit signals for the broadcast transmission at a power level determined based on the pathloss value.
