Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide methods for wireless communications by a base station and a user equipment in a network. An exemplary method generally includes performing a discovery procedure to identify one or more devices through which the UE may indirectly communicate with a base station in the network and deciding based on one or more criteria whether to communicate with the base station directly or to communicate with the base station indirectly via a device identified by the discovery procedure. According to certain aspects, when a UE is in communication with a network indirectly, the network might page the UE directly, indirectly, or both.

Abstract: A method for providing a content gift to a gift-receiving terminal is provided. The method includes a gift server communicating with the gift-receiving terminal over a wireless communication link to determine what content is owned by the gift-receiving terminal. The method further includes the gift server generating catalog data including at least one content gift targeted for the gift receiving terminal. Further included in the method is the gift server wirelessly transmitting the catalog data to a gift-giving terminal. Additionally, the method includes the gift server receiving a selection of a content gift from the gift-giving terminal over a wireless communication link. Further included is the gift server facilitating delivery of the selected content gift to the gift-receiving terminal.

Abstract: A method according to an embodiment obtains a list of peaks for each of a number of frequency hypotheses. Each peak has an energy result and corresponds to a code phase hypothesis. Embodiments include methods and apparatus that may be used in identifying a location of a signal (such as a GPS signal) in a two-dimensional search space. Location information may be further applied to operations such as signal acquisition, signal tracking, position location of a receiver, and timing operations such as the synchronization of one or more other processes.

Abstract: System for dynamic arbitration of a shared resource on a device. A method is provided for arbitrating the allocation of a device resource on a device. The method comprises receiving a request from a requesting application that requests allocation of the device resource, and determining that the device resource is owned by an owning application. The method also comprises associating owner information with requester information to form an arbitration request, wherein the owner information comprises information about the owning application and the requester information comprises information about the requesting application. The method also comprises arbitrating the arbitration request to produce an arbitration decision that indicates whether or not the device resource should be allocated to the requesting application, and allocating the device resource based on the arbitration decision.
