Patents Assigned to Quanex Building Products Corporation
  • Patent number: 8572925
Abstract: A frame assembly supports an article. The frame assembly comprises a frame member having a plurality of walls extending between a first end and a second end. The walls define an interior of the frame member. The frame assembly also comprises at least one foldable cornerlock. The foldable cornerlock has first and second body portions movable relative to each other. A method of manufacturing the frame assembly comprises the steps of forming at least one notch in the frame member spaced from the ends of the frame member, inserting the foldable cornerlock into the notch, and bending the frame member about the notch of the frame member.

  • Patent number: 8528293
Abstract: A foldable cornerlock is used in a frame assembly. The frame assembly includes first and second ends. The walls of the frame member define an interior of the frame member and also define at least one notch. The frame member is bendable at the notch to form a corner of the frame member. The foldable cornerlock is disposed in the notch and extends into the interior of the frame member. The foldable cornerlock comprises first and second body portions each configured to mate with the interior of the frame member. The body portions are movable relative to each other for inserting the foldable cornerlock into the notch of the frame member. The foldable cornerlock also comprises a hinge portion coupling the body portions together. The hinge portion defines an axis extending in a longitudinal direction through the hinge portion.

  • Patent number: 8322076
Abstract: An adjustable glide apparatus is for a sliding panel to slide along a track between open and closed positions. The adjustable glide apparatus comprises a housing defining a cavity with at least one receiver disposed within the cavity. An adjustment stem has an end that has a thread and is disposed within the cavity. A cam is coupled to the receiver for moving the receiver relative to the housing. The cam comprises a plurality of teeth for engaging the thread to rotate the cam as the adjustment stem is rotated thereby moving the receiver relative. A glide is coupled to the receiver and comprises a contact surface. The contact surface is adapted for sliding engagement with the track to slide the sliding panel between the open and the closed positions. A distance between the contact surface and the housing is adjusted as the receiver is moved by the cam.

  • Patent number: 8240090
Abstract: A door assembly for disposition in a building includes a vertical member, a weather strip adjacent the vertical member, and a door selectively moveable to be adjacent the weather strip opposite the vertical member. A threshold extends below the door and the vertical member extends upwardly from a lower end. A corner pad is mounted to the lower end of the vertical member. The corner pad includes a base surface abutting the threshold, a first edge surface extending upwardly from the base surface between the vertical member and the weather strip, and a lower reservoir surface extending upwardly from the first edge surface. The lower reservoir surface extends inwardly into the corner pad defining a reservoir between the vertical member and the weather strip. The corner pad includes a second reservoir surface extending angularly from said lower reservoir surface for preventing the water from splashing out of said reservoir and into an interior of the building.

  • Publication number: 20100257789
Abstract: An adjustable threshold assembly for disposition below a door includes a sill, a rail spaced from the sill and configured to be vertically adjustable relative to the sill, and a seal disposed between the rail and the sill. The seal includes a first portion and a second portion each engaging one of the sill and the rail, respectively, and a flexible intermediate portion connecting the first and second portions. The seal includes a bulb extending from the first portion and contacting the second portion. The bulb includes a first end and a second end each extending from the first portion. The bulb encloses a cavity between the first and second ends such that the bulb resiliently collapses between the rail and the sill as the rail is vertically adjusted relative to the sill to maintain contact between the bulb and the second portion.
