  • Patent number: 7762399
Abstract: Disclosed is an improved sealing sheet for use to close a container-defining sheet having a top surface comprising a given number of spaced apart cavities embossed therein, each of the cavities being upwardly opened and thus defining a container that is surrounded by a flange that is part of the top surface of the container-defining sheet. This improved sealing sheet has a top layer with tearing lines punched therein in such a manner and position as to extend from one side of each cover piece that may be splitted from the sealing sheet to cover one of the cavities in line with opposite sides of a bottom piece left on the corresponding cover piece. Such facilitates peeling of the bottom piece and of the corresponding part of the cover piece from the corresponding container to have access to the element(s) stored in it while preventing glue to be left on the flanges that surround the top opening of the container since such flanges are then still covered by non splitted parts of the sealing sheet.

  • Patent number: 6845564
Abstract: An apparatus for monitoring level variations in a given orientation of a structure, comprises a support portion secured to a structure to be monitored as a function of the given orientation in an adjustable position with respect to the horizon. A balancing arm hangs from the support portion in a resting position with respect to the horizon with one rotational degree of freedom being provided between the support portion and the balancing arm, such that a level variation in the given orientation of the structure causes the balancing arm to tend toward the resting position due to gravitational force A retaining member interrelates the balancing arm to the support portion, the retaining member retaining the balancing arm in the resting position. Sensors are positioned on the retaining member and are wired to a control system to measure strain of the retaining member resulting from the balancing arm tending toward the resting position, to quantify the level variation in the given orientation.

  • Patent number: 6769529
Abstract: A turning device comprises turning members moveable between an idle position and an operational position, a sensor located upstream of the turning member, for scanning the wood pieces on a conveyor, and an deflector controlled by the sensor and adapted, when actuated, to selectively cause the turning member to be displaced to the operational position for turning a given elongated wood piece on the conveyor to a desired position. The turning member is pivotally mounted to a motorised chain for continuously displacing the turning member adjacent the conveyor. The turning member also includes a guide pin, and the chain drives the turning member along a closed-loop guide track, the turning member having its guide pin engaged in the track.

  • Publication number: 20020139089
Abstract: An apparatus and a method for individually bagging bundles into stretchable open bags. The apparatus comprises a bag stretching structure about which a bag can be turned inside out for wrapping an underlying bundle in response to continuous downward movement of the bag stretching structure once the closed end of the bag opposite the open end thereof has engaged the top surface of the bundle.

  • Patent number: 6035799
Abstract: A seat and foot rest assembly to convert a surf board or sail board into a kayak type paddling craft. The assembly comprises a chassis, connectors to easily secure said chassis to the top wall of the water buoyant board, a seat secured to the rear portion of the chassis and a foot rest adjustably mounted on the front section of the chassis. The connectors include suction cups and board encircling straps or screws to be screwed within screw inserts carried by the board top wall. The conversion kit can easily be detached to allow the user to use the board in its original configuration. An optional steering mechanism is provided for more precise directional control of the craft. The steering mechanism includes a stern mounted rudder and a control stick operable by the user's feet and connected to the rudder by adjustable cables.

  • Patent number: 6007393
Abstract: The bottom surface of the surfboard has a set of transverse ridges which are bowed away from the front of the surfboard, which are symmetrical relative to the longitudinal axis of the board. A channel extends across the edge surface of these ridges and are aligned along the board longitudinal axis. In motion, the moving water not only strikes the rear edge face of the surfboard but also the rear faces of each ridge, thereby increasing its propelling efficiency relative to surfboards devoid of such ridges. A second and a third sets of transverse ridges may be formed in water pockets made on opposite lateral side surfaces of the surfboard. These second and third ridge pockets assist in self-straightening the surfboard should the latter accidentally swerve at least slightly transversely from the general axial direction of displacement.
