Abstract: Instant messaging (IM) and TV programming are displayed simultaneously on a TV screen. An instant messaging window on the screen displays posted messages and identifies the TV program (if any) being currently viewed by each user posting messages. An icon accompanying a message can be selected by a message recipient to permit a telephone call to be automatically dialed and completed to the message sender. Video files attached to sent messages include a key which may be compared to a key at the destination, so that the video file may be viewed by the recipient only if the there is a match. Data collected at a server managing the instant messaging may be used to monitor message, television and telephone activity, as well as demographic data associated with the IM users.

Abstract: Wireless telecommunications is inhibited within a limited region by generating a noise signal within a frequency range of the wireless telecommunications and broadcasting the noise signal into the limited region. A system for inhibiting wireless communications includes a radio frequency noise generator generating a noise signal within a frequency range of the wireless telecommunication. At least one antenna broadcasts the noise signal into the region. Control logic initiates or suspends broadcasting of the noise signal based on at least one control input.

Abstract: CDMA transmitter device including bit rate control logic that dynamically adjusts bit rates allocated to new incoming calls and currently active calls based on the current power level of the transmitter device and a call priority for the currently active calls and the incoming calls. The bit rate control logic uses the current power level of the transmitter device and the call priority to allocate lower bit rates to lower priority calls and higher bit rates to higher priority calls to maintain operation of the transmitter device at or below a maximum operating power level.

Abstract: A system and method for providing centralized control of one or more communication services, includes an Integrated Services Controller (ISC), which is in communication with any number of communications networks, such as the Public Switched Telephone Network or in the Internet. The ISC may be further configured to dynamically receive a Message Registration List (MRL) through an interactive exchange of commands with one or more communications services. This MRL may include one or more messages in which a particular communications service has a notification interest. The ISC may provide centralized processing for messages received from the communications services. Intelligent prioritization rules may be configurable by a communications service provider so as to affect the prioritization of the communications services by ISC.
