Abstract: The disclosure embraces a golf ball and method of making same wherein the golf ball has a solid (not thread-wound) resilient center or core, and a multilayer cover construction which involves a first layer or ply of molded hard, high flexural modulus resinous material on the core, and a second or cover layer of soft, low flexural modulus resinous material molded over the first layer to form a finished golf ball. The first layer is of a thickness in a range of 0.020 inches and 0.070 inches and may be of resinous material such as Type 1605 Surlyn marketed by E. I. du Pont de Nemours and Company, and the second or cover layer is of a thickness in a range of 0.020 inches and 0.100 inches and may be of resinous material such as Type 1855 Surlyn marketed by E. I. du Pont de Nemours and Company. Foamable materials for producing a cellular first layer or cellular cover layer are polymeric materials such as ionomer resins.
Abstract: A novel structural member, such as a tennis racket, and the method for making same, provides a high strength to weight ratio. The structural member of this invention consists of a fiberglass shell which surrounds a syntactic foam core. The fiberglass shell may be further selectively reinforced with a ribbon which is formed from a high strength fiber such as boron fibers, graphite fibers, aramid fibers, etc. Because the structure of this invention incorporates a high strength to weight ratio it can be utilized in the manufacture of rackets of conventional and radical design. This invention relates to a structural member consisting of a tennis racket having a high strength to weight ratio.
Abstract: A restraining apparatus for a child's car seat is provided which includes a U-shaped member pivotally mounted at its terminal ends to the opposite sides of the upper portion of the frame of the seat so as to be movable between positions above the occupant and in front of the occupant, said U-shaped member having a padded shield mounted about the bight thereof. A harness having two shoulder straps and a crotch strap is joined together at one of the ends of each strap. A plurality of slots in the back of the seat structure accepts the shoulder straps which pass through and forward of the seat structure. A slot is provided in the seat structure through which the other end of the crotch strap passes, and means are provided on the underside of the shield of adjustably retaining the other ends of the shoulder straps and for providing a releasable latching means for securing the other end of the crotch strap to said underside of said shield.
