Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for associating comments with playback of media content. At an input device, a parallel echo version of media content being played on a second device is provided, and a selection is received of a portion of the parallel echo version of the media content. A comment associated with the selected portion of the parallel echo version of the media content is received, and the received comment is associated with a portion of the media content associated with the selected portion of the parallel echo version. At an output device, a parallel echo version of media content being played on a second device is provided, a current point in the parallel echo version of the media content is determined, and an indicator of a comment associated with a point in the media content corresponding to the current point in the parallel echo version is displayed.

The central server computer system receives a selection of the media content from an output device, identifies a subset of the plurality of comments associated with the media content based at least in part on a user preference received from the output device, and transmits the identified comments to the output device.

A user at an input device may select a first point and a second point during a first media content to define a first media content clip. A first comment received at the input device may be associated with the first media content clip. The user may also select a third point and a fourth point during a second media content to define a second media content clip. A second comment received at the input device may be associated with the second media content clip. The input device may associate the first media content clip with the second media content clip based on a playback sequence received from the user.

In these methods, systems, and devices, a selection of a screen location during the playback of the media content may be received from a user at an input device. A comment associated with the media content may also be received. The comment may be associated with the selected screen location at the input device. A data store may store the association of the selected screen location with the comment. A playback device may receive the comment and the associated screen location from a data store, monitor the playback of the media content to identify a point during the playback of the media content that is associated with the comment, and display an indication that the comment is associated with the screen location at the point during the playback that is associated with the comment.
